Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Thanks kim,
I really leaning towards green, but I also like this very soft yellow I've seen. I've bought a quart of a couple of greens (one metallic and one solid) that I can spray on some panels to see if I like it. |

Man your truck is really coming along. Like the way it looks with primer. Keep up the great work.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Haven't done anything in awhile because I have been working a couple jobs. It just for the summer until my girlfriend and kids gets back to school. Just been working on small project, practicing my welding, and hopefully getting back to the truck in the next week or so!

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
It's got to be a great feeling when you lay down primer. It's that transitional step from fabrication to bodywork. The dash looks like came that way from the factory, and it'll look great when it's in color. Are you going to try to use all the cool dash trim that the '55 cars had, like the flat pieces with all the little bow-ties in it? If you could pull that off, it'll look awesome.
So you're thinking green, huh? Nice choice. I have been seeing a lot of very off-the wall solid colors lately like browns, tans, and greens that I really like. I like metallics and candys, but there's something about a solid color that when it's done right, it looks like the car was dipped. So deep and rich that it looks like it was molded in that color. That tan Suburban and the pale green delivery at the Brothers show had that look.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Chevyrestoguy,
You are correct the dash will be fully dress like a belair dash, but not the one with the little bow ties. It will be more like this |

Kabwe
Anyway you can remove your dash and send it to me for my truck,I figured since you got that new welder that you would be able to fab another one up for yourself in no time at all. |

Kabwe, got any leads on other dashes? Just starting to work on my 57 again and really like the way the 55 dash changes it up. Thanks, Jim

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Your definitely right about it being easier the second time around you learn all the things not to do that you did the first time, lol. But think how good your dash would look it my truck, and i would naturally give you all the credit for it.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Last week end at the Emmett Idaho show I talked at length with a guy who had a 56 Nomad survivor he purchased at age 17 in 1961. It was his dd for years, he told stories of 4 kids in the back on blankets and towing a camping trailer all over the west. It was black and white with b/w interior. Only changes over the years where front seat upolstrey to match existing and a good exterior repaint in the late 80's.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
OrrigG,
My buddy that owns this car purchased it for 25 dollars in 1965. He was 17 and it was his first car. Its went through many changes throughout the years. He told me when he was in Nam he use to have the car moved to different family members houses to make sure no one got tired of it and sold it.lol Imagine being in war and worried about a car.lol He has a lot of rods, but this one he will never sale. That car is not going anywhere it survived Nam, and a marriage and its still here.lol He is my Tri5 guru and is a very talented builder. He should be, he's had the car for 45 years.
