Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
not really got some stuff back together and started tearing into the breaks witch has been a head ace so far but i think i about got everything tracked down and figured out now trying to get it road worthy before the snow hits again but we will see cash flow is not very good right now!

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
Ok, I have been slacking on the updates! We haven't gotten a whole lot more done recently, but here is what we have accomplished.
We have found that every seal on the drivetrain is leaking... all over the floor. So much for putting in new fluid. LOL My son (Chevyman10) came up with a cool custom idea for the glovebox. It had an old wooden cabinet knob under the latch. His idea was that since there was already a hole there, why not take one of the extra gray knobs I had, we used a windshield washer one, cut it down to look right, fill it with epoxy, and make the knob match the rest of the dash. Here is the finished result. We also welded in the patch panel on the trans hump. There are still some pinholes I need to fill, and some low areas, but it is much better than the original one! |

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
This weekend we were working on the blinker switch. There is a little top hat looking piece of plastic that rides under the metal plate, and against the, squiggly, yes, I think that is the actual technical term for it, piece of metal on the right for the detentes, that is broken. The switch works physically now without it, but I don't have power to it, to see if it actually works.
Also we tore apart the heater controls, to see if we could make one good one using a spare I got from a board member. Turns out that I will still need an additional lever for in side the controls. One of the levers I needed, has a stress crack in it already. Oh well. Anyone have one lying around?? |

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
Got a new Master Cylinder for my truck. I'll just go into parts accumulation mode for a bit, while we work on my son's truck. His is further along, and spending his money for parts is fine by me!

The oval hole in the trans hump could have been for the pto like mine. Good to see progress!

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
Thanks Benwah!
Mostly working on my sons truck lately. I should have a nice update on it tonight. Ran out of hours in the day yesterday. I have acquired a few parts for mine, but also lost a few to his truck. LOL His is MUCH closer to being on the road so concentrating on it, to where we have a cool rig to drive, then I'll get back after mine! |

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
Nothing much new here. Replaced the leaky master cylinder in preparation for the move. Bled the brakes, and towed her to her new home...
Didn't even get to ride in it when being towed, had to drive the pull rig. My son got some cool pics in the mirror, once we get internet at the new house, we'll post those too. |

Jason does the move location have a big shop for the truck to live in??
Winter is coming, lets think about a group breakfast again so I can get motivated to get going again.

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
I wish Bruce! The garage is a little bigger, and the house is a little bigger. Still in Nampa, By Skyview High, just a little closer to work, and school for my son.
A breakfast sounds great! Definitely need to get one or more planning! |

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
In talking with fellow member Murphy98, he stated that he knew of a company reproducing the parking lenses for the 60-61 GMC hoods. These look incredible in the pictures.
If anyone wants to order some and send them to me, I wont stop you... LOL I don't have the cash right now, but if anyone orders them, please post some pics!! Here is the website Murphy98 found. http://www.billstruckshop.com/60-66.html |

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
Hey thanks for posting the info chevy_man5,
Thought I'd post a photo of the old vs new. They are a bit pricy but I do remember when the reproduction '62-'66 GMC lenses were first available they seem to be in the same ballpark years ago, cheaper now. Maybe if they really start to sell the price might come down. Keep in mind for those of you in the US, the price is in Canadian dollars, with the current exchange rate you should save a few dollars on a pair. Price per lens includes the gasket & brass rivets to install it. |

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
Yep T.J., the move went well, just been busy with life in general, and money is tight, so no progress on either of our trucks in a while. LOL We have been working on getting the garage arranged, and set up, to where we can work again soon though. Everything that didn't have a specific place in the house got staged in the garage until we could figure out where to put it. Finally getting working room again, and the temps are going to start climbing soon again!

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
Yep I still have it. Will probably keep her forever. Haven't had the time or space to do anything to her for a while, but hoping that will change soon. New job and only doing 40 hours a week instead of 80ish! That will make things easier!
