Bummer about the wheels, hope it's a quick fix. Billet Specialties needs to make it right with you for sure..

Keith,

If you have time, what is the measurement from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface of your rear end with the rotors installed?

Thanks,

Mike

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside

The set of Intro's I ordered have been delayed because they are having trble with their wheel barrel supplier. They are for the 22x12's, but may be the same supplier to Billet Specialties. They indicated that the barrels they rec'd were oversized and had issues with the tires mounting.

Anyways, I feel your pain & hope it gets resolved soon!

Thanks Guys, we will see what happens. I already shipped them back, guess I have to sit around and wait to find out what their going to do. I'm still very upset over this happening, I don't understand how you ship out wheels that tires can't be mounted on. Seems to me like some quality control was skipped before these wheels got shipped. I guess I expect to much for the price you pay and from a company like Billet Specialties.

No problem Mike, I'll get you a measurement this weekend. Keep in mind with the 4.25" backspacing I was planning on running, I would need to narrow the rear around 1"-1.25" per side.

At least they found the mistake before shipping your wheels out. I wish Billet Specialties would have checked the barrels before shipping me the wheels and wasting my time.

So were they built on a Monday or a Friday? Following the same story of assembly line workers who are hung over and tired on Monday, or checked out and ready for the weekend on Friday... I hope they make it right for you, and not waste more of your time with that problem.

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside

Despite the issue with the wheels, I'm still plugging away at the frame! Got the motor and trans installed. I think the motor is sitting a little high because the best I can get is them at 7 degrees down! I can't raise the trans up anymore because it hits the Porterbuilt inner frame stiffener! I sent an email to Travis at AZProPerformance to see if Choppin block can get me some different motor mounts so I can lower the motor down a little.

Chassis looks great with that beast of a power plant in there.

This is how tight it is from the trans to the inner frame stiffener.

Thanks Mike, it's nice to have the motor and trans sitting in the frame. Once I get the angles fixed I can start on the exhaust.

Keith are you going to have room to plug that VSS sensor in? That looks really tight for sure!

How much room you have between oil pan and cross member?

Currently no! I contacted Travis and he is working with Choppin Block to get me some new mounts to lower the motor down. Apparently they redesigned them after I received my crossmember.

I'd say I have a good 2.5-3" so the motor has plenty of room to go down!

The cleanup and paint you did on the motor looks great. Going to be a nice ride when you get it finished.

I got the wheels back from Billet Specialties today. They milled the barrels down and polished them so hopefully I can get some tires mounted this time I guess I'll find out tomorrow morning when I take them to get mounted!

I have the same problem with my Raceline Burst 5's. I'm wondering how common this is. I've got to send them back as well.

A person would think these high dollar wheel companies would turn out better items, or is it maybe a quality control problem???

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside

Well I'm officially done with Billet Specialties. After getting the wheels back for a second time, I still can't get a tire to mount! I wasted my time today going to 2 different tires shops and neither one could get the wheels mounted up! The tires still won't fit down over the barrels no matter what you try! I'm disgusted right now. They can have their junk wheels back!

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside

I understand your frustration, but as an alternative, you can ask them to have the tires mounted for you. It sounds like you've made a solid effort on your own. I'd even see if they can throw you a little discount or credit for something else from them for the inconvenience.

Keep pressing man! You're doing great!
