Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 - Bumper Punchin'
well, tonight was productive. finally spent some time on the truck to get it ready for the All Truck Nats in two weeks. Got the headlights working, flexible trans dip stick installed (no more red puddles under the truck ) and looked over things in general. I'm still not happy with the alignment, but the tires don't have as much wear as i thought they did, so we'll go with it.
tomorrow i'm gonna spend some time cleaning up the wiring harness under the dash and getting the gauge lights working. |

Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 - Bumper Punchin'
And now we have an alt belt that doesn't fly off when you mash the go fast pedal, gauge lights, and a bottom to my battery box.
It's ready for the KC trip now. I would like to figure out why i don't have much stopping power, but there's enough to be safe. I did do a pretty nice burn out today for the kids down the street. They kept egging me on (due to my kids) every time i took it to the store for a pop or some pizza. |

Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 - Bumper Punchin'
well, i took a 250 mile round trip last weekend in the '50. Made it there and back with no issues (or tickets), so i think the KC trip tomorrow is going to go just fine.
I did roll some roadkill on saturday, so it's official now. the '50 has been Bumper Punchin' Roadkill Since 2009! |

Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 - Bumper Punchin'
heh, yeah, it's winter time so focus kind of shifts for me on to all of the projects I've put off for the summer. I'm happy to say that www.SportsLeeg.com is live and I'm adding a ton of functionality to it every week. (yes, this is a shameless plug. Spread the word fellow truck dudes! I know you all have kids playing sports!!)
The '50 is tucked away in one of my parents buildings. I always fear the issues I'll find come spring, but we'll cross our fingers. I do plan to get it out in march or april and rework everything in the bed. I want to have a full floor with some sort of homemade tonneu (sp?) cover to keep things nice and clean and dry. I'm thinking building it out of sheet metal and 1" x 1" square tube for the frame, then putting an old barn door over it to hide the metal. uhg... now i want to go get it out and work on it. Too bad it's in a building behind a 15' drift. Oh, I did pick up a complete '52 hudson hornet, and got my son a 66 4dr Impala for Christmas (roughly $500 each) ... i really need an acreage ... |

What issues are there?
And I know what you mean about the land... Oh the things that can be done when you have more than a driveway. |

Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 - Bumper Punchin'
hopefully none. but you never know when a mouse is going to chew through an air line, or if a valve is going to stick or something silly like that.

Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 - Bumper Punchin'
when aired out they may be. when aired up they are in a decent position.
However, I do have bad wheel hop on launch, so i may end up redoing the 4 link at some point. That's one area that i probably didn't research as well as i should of. |

I thought I saw your '50 chevy truck doing a burn out in the Custom Classic Trucks Magazine in the article about Mid-West Nats. ?? Was it you? Had to be!

Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 - Bumper Punchin'
I just got a call from a buddy in MO who said the same thing. I'm leaving work to buy a copy or 10 :-)
I'm more curious to see who else from the 67-72 made the mag. We had ~15 or so trucks there. |
