Yeah, this is paintable undercoating also...but I want to make sure it's a nice even coat to protect the cab floor. Will be painting under the cab also once I can get it up on a lift so it shouldn't rust anymore for a long time

I plan to leave the intake on but remove the carb so it's easier to clean up the intake....

Yes... Up on the lift is the way to go. I just did mine over the weekend in the driveway. No lift No fun. I have to get more because two cans didn't cover as well as I thought it would.

I got three cans (all they had) plus I have one of the nicer ones left over so I hope the four cans total will do it...
I plan to prime it with the rusty metal primer first to stop any hidden rust in cracks/crevices and then top it with the undercoating. Should make the ride much quieter between this, the new mat, and the fact that all the holes are gone in the floor

well the plus side with holes is.. u can accidently drop your trash down it while your driving around. therefore your truck interior stays clean with no effort??

The rain really stinks...I can't roll the truck outside because the windows are out of the driver's door and there's not any room to work on the truck inside the garage....at least I have a garage though

I know what you mean... Your area has had....well EXTRA rain this year.
All you can do is find that little work area and work on the small stuff.

1) no money for that
2) live in a community that says no to that <----wanting to move to somewhere without an association when I can afford to

Yep....certain areas around me have had three feet of rain in the last couple of months. just crazy. we've had over 2' of rain in my area....

I have plenty of consoles and dash setups to restore....but once I'm in the house the family has things for me to do also

Re: Rebuild on a shoestring.....continued

Well, went out in the mist/sprinkles and dodged a couple light showers. Got one more coat of undercoating on the floor of the cab...overall it really made a big difference in the sound of the panels and the look of the interior...

Took all the tape off and also disassembled the passenger door panel and took the vent window out so I can clean it up (has some overspray but has good chrome and rubber...)

Also took off the rest of the Naugahyde (what it says on the back of the material) off the back of the bench seat and installed the cover for now...decided I was tired of seeing the tan and wanted to see how the flat black interior rustoleum worked on fabric so I sprayed it (had some leftover from another project)...sprayed in the last bit of light so I'm sure it looks hideous If it looks okay when it dries I will get one more can to spray over the whole thing to even it out... it's dark now so no pics tonight...

I'm curious how well it works too. I am thinking of dying the dark blue cloth seat black to match the rest of the interior.

There's some really good FAQ's I printed off the first time I put the guts in a door and things went quick and relatively easy...I'll see if I can find them and link them here but they're in the FAQ forum.

Not so great I knew I needed another can but then thought...why put more money in a temporary cover....so I am going to leave it for now to ride around in until I can either recover the seat properly or find a good deal on an already recovered seat. The bad thing is...i have a set of bucket seats I got off here for a good deal and several consoles so I could put buckets and a console in it....

a) it's a budget build
b) I can make too much selling the buckets and console once I fix them up
c) Only two can fit with a console so it limits the market you can sell to....
