Just got one more package in the mail. My brand new wiper delay setup. Now I just need the weather to cooperate. Still way too cold to dig into the dash again.


I also need to order an overflow tank for the radiator. I overlooked that one. Anybody have any good ideas? I like the stock look, but am not even sure what was on these trucks stock.

Is that delay from the guy (forgot his name) here on the board? I have his first rendition before the remote potentiometer one was made, it will be interesting to see where you mount it.

Yup, that's the one. This is version 2 with remote potentiometer. I have a pre-existing hole to the left of my dash which is perfect. Just need to figure out where to mount box. Looks to be a quality piece, but don't think he's gonna make many more of them for 67-72 model years. LMC actually just came out with a similar product.
Which I think uses existing switch.

That's too bad if he stops, i have had no problem with mine with the exception of finding a better place to mount it so i can reach it better, i could make some kind of mounting bracket but just havent gotten around to it.

I picked up an aluminum over flow tank from LMC very cool look'n. if I can find it in my pile of parts I will take a picture and post it.

Hey Dwilber, thanks though I decided to buy another WS washer fluid tank with bracket and a radiator overflow cap for it off of summit. That setup was half the price of the stainless tank you speak of, which is very nice BTW, and a setup that is being sold here on the boards for a little more than piecing it together myself.

This way it will look semi-stock.

Well, no huge progress, but was warm enough today to get a few new under the hood tasks completed.


Got the spectra air intake hooked up and am contemplating running it to the core support for ram air. I also received my coolant overflow tank which will work perfectly. I did have to make an aluminum plate to mount it, but it fits in nicely right next to to radiator.

Now I just need to finish a big job and get some warmer weather to finish this thing up.

***UPDATE***
Well the weather has been pretty bad in February and looks like the first couple weeks of MARCH are headed in the same direction. So, I have done little to forward my progress on the truck. However, I knew I was going to need new wheels and tires and well I have this budgeted so what the hell.

I came across a set of wheels online about a year ago that were on a 72 K20 in a 4wheeler article for some tire shootout. I knew immediately that these were the wheels. I don't like newer wheels on these trucks and think these wheels mix the look of an older slotted mag but updated. I went on a search only to find the wheels were no longer being produced by the company that created them. They are 17x8 with a bolt pattern of 8x6.5 simulated bead lock wheels. I made a few calls and gave up. I tried again for some reason the other day and found a company that had 2 sets left. Here they are. The company is BTR racing wheels. They still make the real bead lock versions, but don't think they still make the simulated bead lock versions. I am putting Nitto Trail grappler 285/70/17's on these wheels and leaving the bead lock rings off for now. I should have pics at the end of the week.

Thanks Tom! Yeah this weather has been a bummer. Just a could more weeks.

These wheels do have an H/2 look to them. I also looked at those wheels, but after seeing them on a truck decided to go another direction. After all the road blocks on this project, I finally got a break. Knock on wood, now I just have to get them mounted without issue.

***Wheels n Tires***
Well, bought some stainless button bolts and installed those in the holes for Bead lock ring.


My tires came in so went and had them installed. Damn am I happy about this combo.

Next to the old dry rotted BFGoodrich all terrain 33x12.5's they stand a little taller and thinner.

Under the truck, they fit like a glove.


Now just waiting on new studs, lug nuts and wheel locks to finish off.
I will be getting rid of all the old stud and lug nuts if anybody is interested. 32 of them. New and never on the road. I will post pricing on the 72 truck parts forum.

This truck is trying to kill me! Lol

I swapped out the stock wheel studs for longer studs that would have worked, but the knurl wasn't grabbing both the hub and disc. After some research, found out a gigantic gm wheel stud was the solution.

Once I got the wheel studs figured out with the new wheels, some of the new lug nuts were cross threading on the new wheel studs despite some of them going on easily by hand. I ended up trashing about 6 lug nuts and their studs trying to get them cleaned up and working.

So I got a die to clean up all the 9/16 18 wheel studs, Literally about 75 percent of them were bad cuts. After running the die on them, I was back in business. Then realized the new studs are so long that I run out of thread with the wheels on. Luckily only about 1/4"

So, ordered up some 1/2" wheel spacers to make sure and tomorrow hope to finish this wheel blues. I was really hoping to just bolt the new wheels on. I should have known better after all the trials and tribulations, but I will get done eventually.

The correct wheel studs for aluminum wheels on the 8 lug full float axles is Dorman #

With the rear disk break kits you have to run a longer stud to get them to work. I lucked out the kit was mostly done when I bought mine used from a guy in Holister.

Yeah, I haven't had to deal with this until now. Once I got the wheels on, it became apparent quickly that I was going to have to replace the studs. I am glad you didn't have to deal with this part of the rear disc swap.
