Couple days late, but got the inner fenders and core support primed in. Love having a sand blaster.

Working on small stuff. Really happy with how the pedals turned out. Matches the lokar pedal nicely.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
I've been slowly getting the little bits done on the engine compartment.
I hand threaded the stainless wire through the existing staple holes on the inner fender seals. That was brutal. I got all of the wiring cleaned up and done, got the radiator support in and the radiator. I got the carburetor hooked up and tried to fire it up, and it cranked and wanted to start, but there was fuel leaking out on the top of the throttle body. So off came the carburetor. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
I am in the process of sanding down the bed. The wood is good but the previous owner never stained/sealed it so it looks weathered.
What's the easiest way to get all the grey muck off? I tried sanding with 40 grit but it was tedious for the small amount that it got off.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
Started building new front upper shock mounts for the 61. Kind of copied the old broken ones but with a few mods for more strength. Will post pics when I get then finished.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
3 weeks back or so the truck started running rough at low idle, checking into it we discovered a broken exhaust spring. These were the original springs and we decided to change them all to new ones, with the heads in place. We started on the truck at about 8 am and by using a air pressure manifold, we were able to use air pressure to keep the valves up while removing the springs.
Took about 6 hours, the worse springs to get to were cylinder 6, because it's almost directly under the heater core. Instead of using a spring compressor, we used an open end wrench to press down on the springs so we could remove the keepers. Glad this job is over, took about another hour to set the lifter clearance and tune in the carb.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
pulled all the window trim pieces and my glove box door out to repaint them all.
I have to stop using my Suburban to move. It's getting very tiring sanding and fixing the scratches for repaint. This is the last time and trying to get the interior done before next Saturday for the Walkin' on Main Car Show put on by the Mingus Union High School Auto Club. |
