Yup, think I have a plan! I put soooo much time into cleaning the old crap off. It's deserving of a nice finish. The scotchbrite technique is GREAT news. I was dreading having to cut all that epoxy in the little corners and such with paper.

No work on the truck today, still doin the wood! Shop is a $hit hole again! A few pics for Bomp! How much I've done and how little I have left to do! If you look close at the $hit hole pic there's a piece of red Scotchbrite next to the welding helmet! Not worn out yet tho.... You can tell by the tools I've got laying around that the home made wood splitter I borrowed needed a little "maintenance". Swear I'm gonna work on the truck this week!

Wow ! Thats a lot a wood ! My engine builder has a pile like that, but has to use a giant pool tarp to cover it. Hope you get time to work on the truck soon.

I'll say it-Got Wood? Reminds me of back in the day, we had a 67 3/4 ton and made the house payments filling it with wood on my great uncle's farm. Chucked many a cord into that truck. You oughta be warm!

Sorry for all the off-topic crap again! We filled the wood-shed last weekend and still had a BUNCH of them big rounds left. It's starting to rain and it's killin me watchin it get wet. I should be able to finish splitting that tonight and get it tarped......then clean the $hit-hole, then back on the truck!!!

So I'm calling this weekend MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Got the rest of that wood split and put up. Did a little more welding on that splitter, pressure washed and returned to the lender. Thanks Sid!!!
Got the $hit-hole cleaned up and sorta organized. Sanded out them vent window frames and re-sprayed with a little reducer. Still not glass but I think it'll be good. I'm learning.... Should be a good week for the truck coming up. Also hauled the Crummy in for an ignition tune / re-curve. When we built the motor the dizzy was a pile. I bought a "new" HEI from the local speed shop for like $80. That got it going but its already clapped. The mechanical advance is POS and gets stuck. When it breaks free it'll still only advance like 10 or 12 degrees. Gonna have to buck-up for a nice unit. I've got initial whacked up as high as I can so it'll still crank worth a crap and half-a$$ idle. I'll tell ya tho, them test drives down the dirt road are fun!!! Little clutchin in third to get them secondaries burning and wheeeeeeeee!!!! Shoulda takin pics of the marks. That locking diff is tight and the BFGs are diggers! Had to shut her down before the neigbors called the fuzz.

I've got crap spread from hell to breakfast that needs fixed and polished up. Soooo many small parts! Your cab is coming together! You've got a row to hoe but I'll be watching till the burnout video!

Reeeeeeeeelaaaaaax, man! Very simple line, that you gotta draw. Driver, or show truck. Yeller was built to be a driver. Yes, it's nice. Yes, even people who know what the hell they're talking about say it's nice. But it ain't no show truck. Because there's NO end to that bit. None. Refer to Superfly Steiny/Cloud 9. Hell, Losh is just scratching the surface. Wait'll he starts on the Blazer. Nuthin' wrong with that, but you ain't gonna jump in Cloud 9 and run to Lowe's, or chuck a set of wheels in the back and go get tires swapped. Yeller has a set in the bed as we speak. Best car advice I ever heard is, formulate a plan and stick to the plan with a few minor deviations. Scope creep is a MF'er, and will leave you with a truck you have a fortune into, and you can't drive! Yeller is costing Boppa $100/mo, and will for the foreseeable future, because it turned out so nice that Momma said that the bass boat had to be in storage, because Yeller was coming inside, no discussion. Anyway, don't beat yourself up. Do the best job you can, clean it all up and make it nice, but don't crucify youself over small stuff, 'cause that knocks the fun right out of this deal. Now get back at it! Go to the paint store and ask for the Lord brand sealer that fits in a standard caulk gun. Comes out kinda buttery and tan. Great stuff. Relax and enjoy your build!

Sound advice right there! It is for sure gonna be a driver and I tell myself that all the time, then I wind up lost in the broccoli. I guess I never really had a detailed plan and that's got me spinning my wheels. I'm bouncing around and never get anything DONE it seems. I've got parts EVERYWHERE that I've done a little work to but nothing finished.
Thanks for the tip on sealer too. Johnny loves butter and really wants to get past that stage. I'm going to pick some up today.

We did some Chevy $hit today boy!!
I had started another thread trying to get the HEI sorted out on the Crummy. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=550048 Member HEI451 "aka Dave" had some solid advice, we got the parts and dialed it in. The big fella is an APE now, but I ROACHED the clutch and it's starting to smoke pretty bad I need it to run through the winter so I better keep my foot out! Not to mention I spent about $150 in fuel last week.....Yikes! I finished fixing the cracks in the steering wheel tonight. It took a few hours but XxCHEVYMANxX's advice on the JB Weld was solid. A tip here.... I used the heat gun to warm up the cracks before I smooshed in the epoxy. It really "wicked" the stuff into the hair-line cracks!! It took some detailing with a little tiny file and it looks sweet! I also did some minor bodywork on the cowl and grille. Still plan on snagging the Lord seam sealer tomorrow and moving ahead on the cab.

Wheel looks good! I'm filing that JB Weld trick away, that's a good one! I removed the antenna on Yeller, it never fit right and looked like crap. You can lay it down in the wiper trough, and it'll work. Boppa bought one of them fancy windshield antennas. Good Progress! Couldn't find the Lord sealer but I got some more of the MS stuff but in a medium. Taping the seams and using an acid brush with a little thinner, plus the thinner sealer works awesome!! Thanks for the tip Elco!! I got both door jambs pretty much done and will do the rest and the drip rails tomorrow. Looks pretty sweet to me and I'm getting close to BLOCKING! Was also gonna score the sticky-back paper for the Dura Blocks but as fine as they go is like P360??? Plus its like $40 a box!! Yikes!! Then the dude is tellin me that I shouldn't be layin that G2 on top of epoxy and that it's horrible to sand??? I'm like "Elco is practicin what he's preachin and the data sheet lists epoxy primer as a substrate." I'm movin on with the plan. I might have to use regular old sheets but that's cool with me! I also got a spray can of guide coat and some better tape. THANKS DUDES!! p.s. Just making one single word "Bomp-cool" was a phukin pain in the a$$! You must have mad computee skills or are WAY more patient than I am!

(Bomp, please make all those letters cool). I won't even fire an HEI engine now without having set the dizz up that way. We built that motor like three years ago and it's just now running like it oughtta! The little guy will get the 6AL and remote coil setup tho. The Three Two Seven is going to get a bottom and 750 that will run till them little bowtie heads are tapped!!!
