Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Dressed up my engine bay a bit with some aluminum stamped radiator support shrouds, carbon dipped plenum cover, and some raw aluminum coil covers

The LS3 is tucked back there pretty tight so I had to make some cuts on each one to get it to fit against the firewall.

Man, I'm loving your truck Zac. Are the rad support covers commercially available, or did you make them?

I wish I had the tools to make them. But if you go modshopinc.net/store and search over on the left hand side under Radiator Support Filler Panels you'll find them there.. a few different pattern styles. They took a little massaging to get them to fit in perfectly, and I had to re-drill a couple of the pre-drilled holes to line up with the holes on my truck.. but nothing major. I also rivetted down the two front corners to keep them both snugged down and inline with eachother.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

I put some rust converter in my rear cab corner pockets. I am worried because it said to put on a second coat with in 20 minuets and after it turns black but it never turned black. I don’t know if it’s because the first coat was too heavy or because there was some navel jelly left on the surface. I hope not the latter. I tried to clean it off the best I could considering the location. I will see how it looks next weekend. I also found some rust on the interior where the door frame connects to the floor. Another set back

Changed the oil, love the old oil canister, and NAPA filter!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

swapped the p.o.s. POL lower control arms for some Ridetech StrongArms. Some of the best money I ever spent on the old girl. Went from feeling every single little bump and crack in the road to just gliding over it like driving on a soft pad of butter haha.

Brian Stoner of Stoner Pinstriping came back today to finish striping the tailgate. A few shots of his work today and the hood he did a few months back:

I finally got the front clip re-assembled completely. Now to take a break for awhile and then to tackle the cab.

Thanks jbgroby! I tried to get the factory yellow matched based on the name of the color, the PPG number and a section of fender from the original paint job that was hidden from the elements.

Now that, I'm unsure of. Like yours, I am used to seeing the 2 toned, where the white is on the top, so it's white any ways.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Not today, but my brothers and I installed new bed wood, mounted the fuel cell and made straps for the cell. Used 3/4 mdo plywood because it was available, stainless carriage bolts. Nothing fancy but the truck is maybe worth $200 now.
I put my tools in the bed and am driving it 90 miles round trip today for work.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Did a few things this past week. Made a delete plate from a old finned valve cover and installed. Finished painting my drivers door with a distressed look (still have the rest of the cab to go), plus installed my Lokar shifter and Porter hood hinges. And last but not least, working on my center console, I am using from a sportster tank with Joe's Racing Switches.

Hey lowslow, is that bedliner spray in your engine bay and firewall? If so did you have to do anything special for the heat? Looks good!
