Re: Jesses' 48 PU
I can bring mine to you so you can practice.
That is some exhaust system. I'd like to hear it when finished.

That exhaust is looking good. That engine is gonna breathe with that pipe!

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Looks good. My only concern would be terminating it under the gas tank.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Yes I thought about that, but dont really like the pipe showing or coming out the rear...
Guess I could run it on the sides and dump it just after the tank...

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Happy Friday all... hope you are staying home, healthy and free of this Corona virus mess.
So here is what I decided on the exhaust. I kicked it out and down in front of the fuel tank. I dont plan to have a rear bumper (that may change) and I really dont like the pipe showing out the rear. So.....

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
nice welds on the exhaust, looks good.
I am not trying to be difficult, but when the tips are aimed down, you will stir up a lot of dust when driving down dirt/gravel roads...... just something to consider........ if you going to stay on the blacktop, then don't worry about it. keep up the great work

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Thanks Tempest67, honestly I did struggle with the settings to get the welds and penetration I wanted. I thought this would be an easy 1 day deal. Boy was I wrong. But im happy with it.
Yes I thought of the dust, but if I lived in my hometown of Laredo, TX (even the black top roads are dusty) I would be concerned. Here in Houston, I think ill be okay.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
OK good, just wanted to make sure you thought of the dust., as a friend of mine had turned down pipes on his 61 Black Impala and he dreaded dirt roads.
it looks like you are having fun with it, keep it going

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
I've been putting off this update... Something happened that changed the course of my truck. After sandblasting the truck, I was very disappointed, frustrated and had the wind knocked out of my sail. The sandblasting exposed some damage that I wasn't willing to invest more money or time. The cowl, the rear windows and front window areas looked like Swiss cheese. The metal on the roof was pitted to the point where I just didn't want to dedicate time to it. So I posted it on several local sites and in a matter of days it was gone. SOLD!! I felt bad because not only had I worked on it, but my dad put in some of his time.
Fast fwd a week and I found a nice solid cab up in the Ft Worth area and basically paid the same amount I sold my cab for, so it was a wash. It had minor rust in the rear corners and on the driver side floor board. I could have left it as is but didn't like the shabby work someone did on it so I replaced the corners and fab'd up a floor pan. I honestly feel better with this cab and know that the repairs are solid and water will not leak into the cab...

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
This is the cab I purchased from my new friend Jerry in Weatherford, TX. He is an old cat who has been collecting these trucks for 20 plus years, has plenty of parts and a lot of stories to tell. I enjoyed spending a few hours with him, picked his brain and gained a friend...
