Great Doug. Can't have too many friends unless they need help moving.

I am real excited to get these next steps done on Homer too. Heck, I don't even know if the motor is gonna stay yet. I know, cart before horse, just how it's playing out. My body man became available for a short window so I jumped on that a little ahead of schedule.
As to the heat 114* yesterday, 115* called for today. Heck it was 87* at 5:15 this morning when I got in the truck and headed for work. but we are not in our Humid period yet. That's the only way it's tolerable. I was born in Florida and went back in my early 20's and I'll take this dry high heat over that humid stuff any day of the week.
I am also dreaming of a shop with AC one of these days. Maybe,

I don't know Flashed. I remember a summer when my kids were young Millions of Americans thought Vanilla Ice was cool as could be. Funny thing is ask everybody, and they all say the same thing, that they were not in that group.
At least we are in good company as far as I am concerned. There's even lots on here that think if it's not 1/2 ton, fleetside, slammed on the ground scraping the asphalt that it cannot be cool. I dig them too, but have really grown fond of these old work horses. Like the rest of us.

I couldn't agree more on both parts, i used to live in eastern wa and the heat was tolerable as it was dry, cant say I'd be used to anything in the temps your experiencing tho..Over here when it hits 80 where I'm at now i start to swelter because the humidity.

To be perfectly honest, it's easier to survive (and work on my truck) in our 110* heat than it is in you all's 85* with high humidity. At least it's easier for me. That humidity just kicks my b*tt.

It's really about working early in the morning..
staying hydrated...
lights in the evening.. avoid the heat of the day..
But what most of the nation can't beat about our climate...
Being able to pull a wrench and still feel our fingers.... in shorts... the weekend after Christmas. .

I hear ya Chris. Wish I had the ability to shut it down during the heat of the day. Not quite built for that. Cannot do it. I am all on board with starting early, and then wayyy to tired to work late at night, so I just trudge on thru the heat of the day
Last house I had in the mountains before I sold out and moved down to the valley had a nice 3 bay heated shop. I would go out in the morning during the winter and crank up the heater while I went back in and drank my coffee. Go back out with the snow blowing and it'd be 78* and short sleeve weather. Hopefully get another shop some day.

Out of town last weekend so got my bodyman/painter back over this weekend for another session. Worked over the rear fenders, hood, grill, and cowl piece. Overall another good weekend of progress.

Yep. I agree. Believe me I have mentioned it way more than once. I even purchased a new disposable respirator. It sits in the bag.
I tell him, yeah it might not bother you now but when you get my age you will be wishing you had. Then you will be telling all the dumb young guys (who think they are bullet proof) to wear the PPE stuff.
Ultimately he's a contractor and all I can do is provide the stuff and recommend.

Oh hell yea! LOL! One of the reasons i haven't been too motivated as of late.

We did have a big a** bug land in the clear on the hood. we will sand it out when we get ready to buff it.

Looking good Wayne. I'm thinking of doing the stepside thing with mine as well but I want to keep my wheelbase or shorten it to standard 8' bed. Gotta find a bed first.

Awesome build thread! Just went through the whole thing. Can't wait to see the finished product. I have to ask as I am getting close to the cab removal stage and looked like you removed it with your engine crane. What/how did you connect it to lift it out? Any pics?

Yeah find the bed you like first. I believe a step side bed will be the easiest to widen without looking too goofy. As you can see in my build thread it was a one day process to widen it and the next day process to narrow a (square body) fleetside bed so I had inner tubs where needed.

Search "cab removal" and there are lots of pics. I have since made an old school set of "camper jacks" patterned off a pair my buddy has. About a hundred bucks for all the steel and a set of boat winch crank assemblies from harbor freight. I can lift my cab, bed, whatever by myself and drive my trailer under it for hauling. That the way to go in my opinion.
