I have one of those tool boxes too!! It's my dad's his first job was at Sears in the auto service center in the late sixties and he bought it and had money taken out of his paycheck every week! I also have the manual too!! I smile every time I look at it!! Mines a little worn, it went around to a few shops!

That is awesome to have that. Having those things really makes it that much more enjoyable to work with or around. Ive got my dads old boxes, and some of my uncles that I restored after a fire ate them up, and have my grandpas old Kennedy he used as a machinist - my prized possessions!

Door latch conversion is almost done. Some real fine details to sort out in hard to sand areas left. Also, not sure if I mentioned here, but with my air cleaner conversion I quickly ran into an issue with my HEI cap, so I converted over to a Holley distributor that syncs with the EFI. Fits much better now.

Getting some of the audio stuff figured out, built this panel to mount all my stuff. Getting it wired up hopefully will be less of a task than I think, but boy is it far more confusing to me than the whole AAW harness was

Been doing a lot of wiring these past few days, found that I needed an additional amp due to the fact that I am running two dash speakers, door components, and rear speakers along with the Basslink, so I have added that to my 'audio stuff' board and have been trying to organize the rats nest that comes with it

I like that panel you made for the audio stuff, that's a good spot to hide it all. How do you plan on finishing off the remainder of that area? I'm trying to come up with something on mine because without the gas tank you can kinda see back there and right now mine is a mess. I'd like to do sound deadening like you did, but I want that covered up as well.

I bought carpet from ACC on Rockauto that is supposed to extend to the rear wall of the cab, and they also sell a rear wall carpet piece, which fits OK and needs some trimming, so the carpet will go behind this plate and it extends to the cab corners. I have the corner speakers so those will hide the corners anyways, which I will put rolled up jute mat behind so it sound deadens better

Something the 700R4 guys may find helpful - Bowler has a 'Tru Shift' correction bracket/kit for the TV cables on these 700s. As stock, it pulls the cable up and outward, which can create uneven pressures, and this kit keeps the sweep of it flat so it reacts as intended (their saying, I havent driven it yet) and the bracket is really trick. Had to file the mount tab some to get it 100% straight, but its great and has a self adjusting cable. Very simple install, and looks clean too.

I really like your stereo setup. However, a word of caution. Test it with the motor running before you reassemble the truck. My stereo was mounted in a similar manor, and I am still trying to determine what is causing my alternator noise in the music. When you search the internet for what to do/what not to do, I see some potential problems.
Some things I have done that are supposed to fix the issue:
-Power and ground wires must be separated.
-Ground wire should be 18" or less.
-Amp should be completely isolated from any metal (ie I mounted mine to plywood).
-Source wires should be run opposite side of the vehicle from the power wire. -Use high quality patch cables.
-Each component should be grounded separately.
-Ensure the receiver has a good ground. Otherwise, it will get ground from the antenna.
-Use filters as a last resort. (I did and it helped but didn't fix completely).
-I even changed my alternator and plug wires.
-Make sure your grounds between battery, engine, frame, and cab are good.

Anyway, you may turn yours on and it will sound great. If so, count your blessings. The stereo has been the most frustrating part of my build.

In my case, I think one of my components must be defective. I just have to figure out which one.

That is very helpful - Im going to separate my speaker wires from any power/ground wires when I get home. Im glad you posted this, really helps me think a bit more on routing!

If your engine is able to run, I would test it before making a lot of changes. You may not have the issues I have. In fact, this is the first time I have had a problem with alternator whine.

Currently not running, but I had been meaning to clean it up some. I will probably test everything soon, the engine is broken in but I have fully wired the truck, added EFI, and aftermarket ignition, and such.

Amazing what some sandblasting and 80 grit on a DA can do. I normally will 80 grit a surface before doing any paint work to help me see what the surface will look like with paint, if that makes sense. It will show any small imperfections and help guide you in where any skim filler or body work should be done.

This past weekend I got the carpet just about fully in, some trimming and positioning still needed, but overall I am happy with it. Color is spot on, the shape is 95% there, and it seems to be very good quality. I used some weights, thick steel bar and kitty litter to weigh it down, so when I burned my holes into it I wouldn't have any movement, and when I bolt the sound panel in the back together it wont pull from the wrong direction.

I used some 3M stuff for carpets, but its not the best thing in the world. Will probably go back with some other adhesive later on.

Got reeeeeaaallllll tired of slamming this passenger door, tried relief cuts in the gasket (Precision Door Weatherstrips) but I was just having to literally rock this thing to get it to shut. Installed these Honda door seals and it shuts like a modern car.

Have really enjoyed following this build! I was just test fitting my Precision press on seals that I got from the full door kit on Rock Auto. Saw other's feedback but figured I would be ok dealing with the slamming until they wore in a little bit.. but wow do they require a full door slam to shut. I'll see if I can live with it but I did just save the Honda PN's

I was always under the impression the Precision ones would mellow out some more, but they just hadnt, though Im sure it varies truck to truck. My door to door seal flange may be tighter, causing less give, but all I know is these Honda seals are night and day! I appreciate you following along with the build!

Ive got 8 out of 9 plug wires installed.. waiting on the last section of wire to come in so I can run the coil. Then I will get all the wiring mated up to the Sniper/Dual Sync, will hopefully be turning the key on the truck soon to make sure mostly everything works. Nothing gives me anxiety like building custom plug wires!

Here is another good example of great fitting parts but I cant complain - this piece is great, and quite honestly it may be my truck that has strange constraints and measurements. Working to get the seal edge right, and the door to rocker gap right.
