Man that thing is looking slick now.

you are in those stages where you are so close you can taste it, yet everything seems to take so long!

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

I am starting to get the rear of this truck back together... Got a few more licks of paint onto my frame.

I decided to start on the refinishing of my wheels. Started with the inner rear wheels, hope to start get the outer done tomorrow night.

This may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I think it is going to stand out... See attached...

I think the yellow will go with the black hubs... but that is just me.

To set everything off, today I ordered 30 of these.

You had me hooked with the gray. I think you lost me with the yellow. Your truck, your call, but thats a bit to tangy for me.

Holy smokes, this is a monstrous undertaking and cool too. How did I miss it? I better not keep reading, if I got a bug and came home with one of these Mrs. Leevon would have her bags packed before it was all the way in the garage (if I had one big enough for it). LOL

I think my wife is the opposite... She likes it when I have a project, keeps her free time and mine separate.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Here you go dreamers..... Start with a C-60 with a 350 and a 5 and 2, with 7500 (not thousand) miles! you would be so far ahead on mechanicals and body work. It does not have Budd wheels, but it is so slick

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

I have in my shop a 1978 Chevy C65, powered by a Detroit Diesel 453T, Allison AT545 Transmission. It's an ex-firetruck with less than 3000 miles on it. A very rare truck with factory A/C.
Good trucks are out there, you just have to hunt them down.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Nothing too exciting tonight... Stripped, primed and painted the outer dual wheels.

Shined up my lugs and put some paint to them. Will get the rear wheels on tomorrow, and then hopefully get some progress done on the box. I would like to see it drilled and bolted to the sub frame this weekend.

I hope my lug covers come soon, looking forward to seeing them on the truck.

That it is... I just finished pouring fuel into the tank to start it up for the boys... That lad is daring individual.

There have been several dares and bets over the years with these guys.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Got a little afternoon motivation. Put some color to the back of the cab. Hoping to the the front of the box painted, possibly tomorrow night.

Getting closer...
