Dunno, bro. Those NBWs (nuts bolts washers) look ok for a fire-and-forget process. Clean enough to paint with Rustoleum after degreasing.

Also, you mentioned that the propane didn't get hot enough for you. You can try MAP gas for the same bernz-o-matic torch. I think it's in yellow bottles. I have both and will try the MAP if I remember and get the chance. I gotta find something I can try to turn red-hot. Maybe on the neighbor's car, but he's home alot now.

Love the work on the headlights. Those are looking good.

I tried Evaporust and it didn't work well for me.

Hope your arm gets better soon so you can use it and make some real progress! Really, you are moving along very quickly.

very pleased with the way the headlight bits are cleaning up, I hit these with a wire brush after I took this pic and got rid of all the remaining hard to reach rust

today I forced myself to tie up all the loose ends and get every part of the front end primered that was going to get eventually painted satin black

as far as the different colors of primer, the gray stuff will be visible like the grille, the brown stuff will not

I went this route because I already primed and painted some grille pieces this way and I wanted to repeat the process the same way for the remaining external pieces increasing their chances to match

yeah now I realize no one will see those headlight buckets, LOL

Like I said, its nothing but a palm sander bolted to a paint can (or in my case, an old bondo can). It works way better than the expensive tumbler I have, and cost about 15 bucks to make. My best results come from using a shallow layer of fresh sandblasting sand for a half hour, after which I change the sand and give it another half hour. Here’s what an hour of hillbilly tumbling gets me (these bolts were a rusty, cruddy mess when I started):







I no longer bother with the tumbler.

most of the day was spent repairing the little things that end up on the editors floor and never make it on Overhaulin' ha ha

I weldered up the corners of the grill base where I chopped and rolled it to give it some strengthtacity

I caught a second wind and was dying to shoot this SEM undercoating, so I did

was hoping to do both fenders but I only mysteriously had half a can

note the spare nozzle and straw

I'm not a smart man but I know one thing about undercoating, it is really really good at sticking to stuff you don't want it to stick to, hence the plastic even on this old patina beater of a fender

really hard to see the finished product, I am not impressed, it don't look as good as when the shop did the floor on my '68 Mustang, I think I'm gonna give a fresh new can a try on the other fender

Parts look good. The undercoat covered, from the pic I can't see the issue.

I picked up some HF undercoating/bedliner to do the underside. It sprays with the cheap HF gun. Will give a report if I ever get that far.

Yes please do, I think I am giving up on aerosol undercoating and will stick to roll em on types.
