I have been into car related work since I was 14 but as for all the 67-72 vehicals you have seen on this site it is almost all word of mouth from this site.

I started with Extd56's trucks and have worked on about 6-10 other board members vehicals in one way or another.

What year is your burb tank out of because the 26x32 is just a few inches to long for a short bed. This will be going into the "LFD's Low buck truck build" project for this site and another tank other than a blazer tank would be great for the build. This build will end op being my new tow rig and I would like as big of a tank as I can get for cheap!

Thanks,
Kevin

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

Well I got some work done on the crew cab today, pulled the motor, trans and transfer case and got the frame all cleaned up. The radiator support was held on by a unusual method but was junk anyways. Not too bad of a day.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

Hey fellas! The work done so far on this truck has been amazing. All the rust repair, the 4th door addition... I wish I had the skills to do even half of that stuff!

I do have a question. Are there any plans to modify the roof line? I could be wrong, but it appears to me that it goes from "burb height" and pinches down to "truck height" above the rear doors? It's not really noticable, but I was just wondering.

Can't wait to see this one done (and your extended cab one too!)

No plans on modifing the roof height. The roof has been lowered in the front too. Trying to ge tthe old motor and trans out today to make some progress on the beast.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

That rear is a semi float 14 bolt used in a lot of 3/4 ton chevy trucks, the diff is a possi and is called a gov lock by many( I think eaton makes it) but they are known to blow up, I belive Auburn macks a possi for those rears and detroit maks a locker. I would not use one of the stock style again though especialy if you are running larger tires...

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

I got some more work done today, got under the bed all cleaned up and painted and got it installed on the truck to see what it will look like. It took 3 people to get it in position to get the bed on it.

I got some work done to the truck today, looks like a truck now. I am just mocking it up as I forgot what it looked like and I wanted to see what the lift was going to look like.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

I guess most anything is available for sale for the right amount of money. I know what it has cost to date to build the truck, so whats your offer? It is at the reassembly stage to mock it up and then once it all fits take it back apart to blast and paint.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

Sence the question was raised how much money do you have wrapped up in that? If you don't mind saying that is...I'd love to do up a truck exactly how your doing it but hard pressed to say I'd have the funds for a project like that...

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

I have never added up all the money and time that I have spent on the truck in case my wife found out because I might be living in it. I am working on 2 trucks and also a 38 Chrysler that is almost done except for the interior. If I had to guess I would say in the 15000 range but would be hard pressed to duplicate it for that amout.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

Kevin,

I am thinking of not using the 454 and maybe go with a 383 or 350. It seems like the way this truck is mounted on the late model frame there will be a lot of firewall massaging to get it to fit.
