Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!
The truck is waiting its turn to get worked on. I am working on a 69 Extended cab truck that is going to get painted. I plan on getting the new 1991 Suburban axles under the crew cab soon with the 4" lift.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!
I just love this build, our neighbor had a 4 door when I was a kid and I always wondered why GM didn't build it right like this one !!! Nice job guys, It's neat to see somebody do a build that I've drawn out a hundred times and have yet to do. Keep us posted !!!

Nice job. My 1st time seeing the thread. Impressive to say the least. Inspirational seems like a better word. Got a question. I want to add a cargo light to my 69 and am wondering what to order. Was that a stock cargo light from a 70-up you inserted in the project? Thx Mike

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!
I got a little bit of work done on the crew cab even with watching the grandkids which seems to be a full time job. It seems the truck has grown about 4 inches since I have been leaving it out side and even got bigger tires and new wheels. I love donor trucks, may the donor Suburban live in peace.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!
where do you guys find these customers? is it word of mouth or just from this site? BTW nice job on the trucks, some day when I have the funds I will stretch mine! but for now since I have mine apart again, I think I will shave off that eyebrow drip rail.. I have a burb tank that measures 26x26x10, its like 32 gallons and fits very nice in the rails, so if the larger on is to big, you might want to concider that size

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!
Hey fellas! The work done so far on this truck has been amazing. All the rust repair, the 4th door addition... I wish I had the skills to do even half of that stuff!
I do have a question. Are there any plans to modify the roof line? I could be wrong, but it appears to me that it goes from "burb height" and pinches down to "truck height" above the rear doors? It's not really noticable, but I was just wondering. Can't wait to see this one done (and your extended cab one too!)

I started with Extd56's trucks and have worked on about 6-10 other board members vehicals in one way or another. What year is your burb tank out of because the 26x32 is just a few inches to long for a short bed. This will be going into the "LFD's Low buck truck build" project for this site and another tank other than a blazer tank would be great for the build. This build will end op being my new tow rig and I would like as big of a tank as I can get for cheap! Thanks, Kevin LFD Inc. Last edited by Rokcrln; 01-29-2007 at 04:04 PM. |

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!
Well I got some work done on the crew cab today, pulled the motor, trans and transfer case and got the frame all cleaned up. The radiator support was held on by a unusual method but was junk anyways. Not too bad of a day.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!
I started to clean up the frame and then thought I would change the gear oil in the front and rear end. The front looked good but the rear had metal in it from a few chipped teeth in the cluster. It looks like it is a limited slip? I also got the frame cleaned up a little bit.
