Tonight we dummied up the cab onto the chassis and got the engine and trans seated. It's going to be tight squeeze!

Got the motor & trans out. Did it all myself. Next time I'll be sure to have an extra set or two of hands to help...

Wrestled the intake / exhaust manifolds off & removed the driveshaft from the transmission. Started removing the shifter assembly from the top of the trans. Should be ready for a cherry picker next time I get to visit the old girl, & from there I'm ready to go engine shopping.

Ordered a new three row aluminum radiator for $215 with free shipping. It will replace the four row copper one that I paid over $500 for from Henderson radiator and had to have fixed several times because the seams keep opening up, its leaking again.

Pulled the cover back briefly to show some friends who stopped by. Also did the weekly "John's Old Truck" blog post today (http://www.JohnsOldTruck.com), about the video we made the day we finally got it running again back in July. Can't believe how many hits it's getting! Very cool...

I continued to work on my custom kick panels that will house my 6.5 speakers. I have some sanding left than I can paint them or cover them in fabric.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Didn't do it today, did it last week. Got the front end lowered by removing two leafs of each front corner. Here's before and after pic. Pretty happy with it, not too low still usable, feels good. Ordered the new rear fenders yesterday and hope to have them tomorow or sat. Once they are on I can build the side gates. Then it's time to finish the body work on the other cab I have in the driveway. slowly but surely she's coming along.
Thank you to everyone on here for thier help, opinions and tech advice. Before After |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Fredo,
Looks very nice. Maybe I missed it but how did you lower your rear? Oh and which of the leaves did you remove? Any rubbing issues on turns or driveways? |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Replaced the internal wiring harness on the 4L60-E ( the donor vehicle was hit on the right side and broke the plug). Next step is install shift cable from the IDIDIT column.
Going with an F-body radiator, shroud and fan assembly. Will pick it up at the boneyard this week. Should hook right into the 4.8 wiring harness. |
