Was wondering why you had not posted in awhile, sorry about the illness. Hope your feeling alot better. Chassis looks great with everything bolted together. That's one question I have, with everything bolted together is there going to be a problem with twisting of frame, or going out of square??.....Jim

Thanks for the kind words.In regards to the frame that's one hell of a question, my friend was fretting over it while we were building it. I used a tram gauge to check for square, its off a bit, but honestly I never measured it before. The front cross member can only go in one way. Height may be off from left to right, but it really needs weight on it to make it move. So we wont know until the body is back on. I am more concerned with height than square. These trucks have a lot of movement in them body mounts.

Chassis looks great too bad about the hoist deal but its always the 1st scratch that hurts anyways and ya got that outta the way....

Tru true, but didn't think it would be 20 min after it truly becomes a roller.oh well, worst case I get it re done. I have to get two pieces re done by the powder anyhow, but on his dime. And then I cracked clear on a shock bracket.

Got a little bit of work done today on the ol girl. Sandblasted and repainted the steering box, idler, & pitman. Got that installed.

Installed the front shocks, installed the upper half of the rear shocks, I still have to have the lower shock mount bar re powdered, it has some blem's that aren't acceptable.

Got the air bag line ran a lil cleaner and on the schrader's so I can air it up and have it level.

Tried mocking up the rear fuel tank, not sure exactly how its supposed to go in, have to do some research but it appears that the tank will mount to the bottom of the chassis on the outside of the chassis.

That's about it, check the pix yo !

Im getting ready to get my next big project in line and thats going to be tackling the cab.

- Install PB Firewall Heater delete plate
- Fill upper gutter on firewall
- Install new lower A pillar patch panels
- Install new Rocker Panels
- Install new cab corner

Which leads me to my question, how many of you have installed door popper assemblies for shaved handles. I am planning to order bear claw latches with weld in plates to do it right the first time. When using this do I still need a popper? Are they a PITA to weld in? Thanks

i have had several sets of shaved door handles and it has always been more of a headache then i would ever want to have again, and my last one was a 69 sub with bear claw latches....maybe they just werent installed right but never again for me

So just leave the originals and install solenoids and poppers? Thats cheaper for me anyhow.

Handles are gone, been gone for 12 years, no going back now Just dont know if I want to mess with the bear claws or leave the stock latches.

well in that case my opinion would be that the bearclaws would probably work better, just because of how they are designed and i think you can buy the bearclaws with the solenoids for popping the doors built in ..maybe Autoloc ??

Thanks Im digging it too, Only thing I maybe would have changed would have been black cross member,and black spindles, but only had I been able to get the control arms powdered anthracite.

I say DO NOT buy the Autolock stuff, it isn't worth crap. I had to take out a pair on a 47 Ford, and replace with good USA made bearclaw set. Will try and find the supplier of the good ones.

I have been talkin with scottshotrods a vendor on the board and they have a bear claw set for our trucks and a solenoid popped set as well, sounds like they too very much dislike autoloc. I think I offended one of the guys by even mentioning the brand lol.

Been a while since my last post, been busy & BROKE lately. Dropped off my engine to the machine shop on Monday, should have it back sometime in January Xmas present to me from the family Woot!

List of work to be done to engine, so far that is!
- Disassemble & Magnaflux block
- Hone Cylinders & Re Ring Pistons
- Replace Cam Bearing
- Polish & Inspect Crank
- Most likely replace bearings
- All new freeze plugs & Clean oil Galleys

Suppose to get it back looking brand spanky, cant wait

Now to decide how to paint the darn thing, need some input. Should I keep with the theme of the grey and black like the frame & susp? Or is it too much? I was thinking black block, grey pan, grey intake & Heads maybe.

Otherwise Gold zinc pan, black block & heads, natural finish on the aluminum intake.

Thinking of using this serp set up from March, imagine the red being the grey???
