Re: 1949 Chevy 3600 into a daily driver
Little or nothing in the form of forward progress this past weekend.
RH front shock is mounted but I did not get around to the LH side. I drove all over town and got stuff from all three auto parts stores to get my all my brake stuff lined up. Thinks I have all the fittings I need to get it done....hopefully!! Today I was working on some other projects, so Henry go pulled out into the driveway. 8 hours later....we had 8+ inches of snow. yuck!! |

Re: 1949 Chevy 3600 into a daily driver
Up here in Chicago, the weather has a mind of it's own.
The week before last, we had 70 degree weather all week. This Friday, it's supposed to snow all weekend. But that's not as bad as two years ago, it'd be 24 at 6 in the morning, and 76 at 3 in the afternoon. I'd go to school in a parka, and leave in a t shirt. |

Re: 1949 Chevy 3600 into a daily driver
What's that white stuff all over your yard and truck ?
Yesterday I got a sunburn driving with the top down coming home from an Airstream Rally on the Russian River in Northern California in my highly modified AD

Re: 1949 Chevy 3600 into a daily driver
Ah that white stuff has a lot of love from this kid. Upstate NY, we love it.
I look at it like this - the truck not being done doesn't make me feel as bad because I wouldn't be able to drive it anyways. Nice truck, beautiful photography Mike. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 1949 Chevy 3600 into a daily driver
How much gap do you have between your axle and the notch? In other words how much travel do you have until bottoming out. I need to put a notch in mine and trying to decide how much travel I need. I plan to use my truck as a truck and haul stuff so I need to make sure there's plenty of room if the truck squats with a load. I may need to run air shocks or something too.

I plan on installing some short bump stops. Long term this truck will likely have some sort of air overload system for hauling loads. That is the hope anyway. |

Re: 1949 Chevy 3600 into a daily driver
I apologize Coach, you had informed me once before, but the PM must have been deleted...
I know you are going with the Trique latch setup. You had mentioned you were running door locks also. What door locks did you go with - did you just buy two of these door locks (http://www.classicparts.com/1947-51-.../#.UXbZYrUp_To or did you buy these http://www.classicparts.com/1952-54-.../#.UXbZgbUp_To. I would suspect you went with the set, but I wanted to double check. Thanks.

Likely go with the set. I do have a set of small bearclaw latches that cannot be adapted to use with locks. Iw ill gladly pay them forward if someone can use them!! |
