Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Chris,
You'll probably be done wiring your truck before I even start wiring mine! Today my leg feels like a hotdog being cooked over an open fire !

Your truck is looking great Gary. Sucks that you're having to deal with the knee issue, Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Thanks Scott !
I'm able to get around now but there's still issues in the back side of my knee and upper calf muscle. I'm scheduled to have an MRI next Tuesday morning and then go to an orthopedic surgeon that afternoon and see what he has to say ! Might try and putter around with the truck a little this weekend....

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
OK, for the last week I've been well enough to get back to the truck a little bit here & there ! I got all the peddles back in, firewall pads installed, brake booster brackets on, NOS windshield washer bottle in and started on the wiring.

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
I hear you ! 20/20 hindsight !
I used this site to research options and read everyone’s comments about the good and bad. CAS and Retro-sound were two I was considering. Then someone suggested checking out Gary Taymans radio conversions. That seamed to be a great alternative, correct look and new technology. Time will tell if I made the right choice ! Gary

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Hey Shannon;
Dayco 70611, I believe you can see the sticker in one of the pictures. I also used a different goose neck on the intake. It's a stock truck goose neck but I can't remember what yr it's from at the moment. I did cut a few inches off ea. end of the hose to get the fitment better ! Hey Lokin4areason; Thanks for the compliment ! And between the truck and a new Girlfriend the memories of the past are fading away !!!!

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Thanks for the kind works !
It's coming along, just a bit slower than I wanted. My new time frame to have this on the road is next summer. Everything seems to take loooonger than I expected, and there's always little things you didn't even think about that pop up ! Gary

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Wow! Im loving the color of your truck.
My name is Gary. I too have a 72 Cheyenne Super Sport. Original color Med Olive/White/Med Olive.. although mine isn't a shorty, nor is it a 4x4. And currently in a thousand pieces, in shop, yard, garage. Guess I'm kinda biased on the colors.. LOL. Now that I think about its kinda weird and cool at the same time. |

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Hey Gary;
Sounds like we have a couple of things in common...... This color scheme is my favorite, the green & white with the trim just pops. I had a swb stepside that was all the same green but that was just too much green for me. Mine was in pieces all over the place for many years until I got back at it a couple years ago. My plan is to have it on the road in the spring ! Good luck with your project ! Gary

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Thanks Jeff & Jim !
I pretty much back to normal, just a bit weaker but that's coming back.... Jeff I replied to your questions the best I could at the moment, if you need more info let me know. I haven't touched the truck for a couple weeks now, been getting ready for winter, stacking firewood, cleaning up leaves ( TONS of leaves ). But I'll be back to the truck soon, sometimes a break from the project is a good thing. Gary

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Gary. thanks for the PM'd answers. Got a question here on your sway bar mods I want to clarify. On the drivers side the front bolt is where the one rivet was removed for the Steering box reinforcement plate. Where is the rear bolt? Can't see it in the picture I copied. Does it line up to the rivet hole in the x-member or did you drill a new hole? Looks like the passenger side both bolted in new holes in front of the x-member.

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Jeff;
If I remember correctly the drivers side I was able to use 2 existing rivet holes and the Passenger side I drilled 2 new holes. Gary
