Re: 1968

Today, I finshed te firewall. It came out ok There is still a little to work out. I am going to let my brother-in-law do the fine tuning on the body work.
I als mounted the cab on my 1972 frame. I will be making it a rollin chassis. It will be easier to move around. And also to mount the painted cab on my 67 frame. Roll it out and roll the 67 frame under the cab.

I have no idea what the item is in the pic. Could it be a heater/cooling addition part?
What part of the truck or location did it come off of?
I would guess that Xeen might know. He has a lot more knowledge on '68 than me.

Re: 1968

Today, I took a load of metal I removed from the 1972 frame to the salvage yard. It was looking a bit like a junk yard with parts here and metal there. So now I can move around and the boys are not playing with sharp and rusty parts. also started to clean up the A frames to go back on the 72 frame. It looks like I have two projects going on.

Re: 1968

I mounted the cab on the 72 frame so I could work on it and not get the 68 frame scratched or mess up. Not like the dust is not going to get on it. I think I could have my good frame in my neighbor's yard and it would get the dust from my sanding and grinding.

You could cut the front springs but I don't know if you can get exactly 2" because they thread into the control arms a specific way, and you can't cut the back springs at all because they narrow at both ends for the retainers..

The reason i a asking aboutthe springs is. One was broke on the top and I was think of letting the 72 frame down a little. Or I might get another spring to replace it and keep it stock level. What do u think.

I hear ya about wanting room. Built my loft to get things up and out of the way and there is STILL not enough room.

Re: 1968

So, I installed seals in the rear axles and new gasket in the cover for the punkin. So as far as the rear end is concerned it is all done except for the brakes.
