Re: 1963 C-10 SWB BBW Fleetside in NC
Another solid oem piece for the fleetside. Picked up a real nice battery tray from 1Bad62Pro/Street. Will be a nice addition to the fleetside and much needed.

Re: 1963 C-10 SWB BBW Fleetside in NC
More parts being stacked for this build. Have trans crossmembers figured out. Got new parking brake cable in. Have the tail light assemblies completed, new tailgate on and back bed panel has arrived. I need to clean out the parts from the bed and install a wood floor even if its to be temporary. Has half a metal floor and them nothing.

Re: 1963 C-10 SWB BBW Fleetside in NC
A forum buddy Chris (S-31) came by last night. Brought me an original big back piece of glass that's been in his shop for 7 years. He also picked up the original crossmember from the stepside for his new 63. Found a passenger fender set for him also and a few rims. Trying to help him with what pieces I can. And another lwb 63 saved from the crushers.

I hear you there. I'm just glad Chris was able to find another 1st gen. He had a nice 62 two years back. And glad this one was rescued.

Re: 1963 C-10 SWB BBW Fleetside in NC
Haha....I hear you there TJ. Imagine how I feel pulling into the drive everyday seeing it sitting under the barn. I have acquired quite a few parts for it. Some are replacements that are missing and some are to replacements for better parts.
Forward bed panel - Mar-k great tailgate complete set of cross sills for the bed and wheel tubs Powerglide 90% of my truck work is on the stepside right now. But i'll be sure to get some pics.

Re: 1963 C-10 SWB BBW Fleetside in NC
Been looking at top end options again for the 348. I have a nice factory 348 4bbl intake and a really nice factory aluminum 409 340hp 4bbl hi rise intake that I can use since I have 1961 340hp heads already on the engine.....but this looks so cool. An old Edelbrock 6 deuce intake.

Haha....I say yes too. Its the $1000 price tag that scares me. A cross ram would look cool too...

Re: 1963 C-10 SWB BBW Fleetside in NC
Yeah...I've been considering that as well. The 3 deuce set ups are pretty cool, but I've never had to get 3 carbs in synch also. I imagine 6 would be real fun.

I think 6 deuces are cool too, but I have a hard time getting past the leaks and blazing flames that frequently result!!

Re: 1963 C-10 SWB BBW Fleetside in NC
Thanks for addressing that. I hadn't considered the extra maintenance and issues that could present with that style set up. I'll probably just run the single 4bbl on the aluminum intake. And keep my eyes peeled for a 3x2 set up that I can work on.

Re: 1963 C-10 SWB BBW Fleetside in NC
Personally the 3x2 setup is the most fun intake setup I ever owned. It was a 406 setup off a 62 Ford. I had a 63 Galaxie 390/4 speed at the time. It ran Holley 2 barrels with metering blocks in the end carbs that leaked like a sieve. I spent a month with some super fine grit sandpaper and a piece of glass (for flatness) and polished those blocks every night until I removed about .050 of warp from each one. They worked perfect after that.
I actually got about 18 mpg (once) on the center carb. It ran to about 75% open before starting on the rear carb. The front carb opened last and they all reached WOT at the same time. It was like flushing a toilet!! You could actually watch the gas gauge go down if you held your foot in it long enough. I love the two rows of carbs, I've just never known anyone with that setup that didn't have a fire. There's just too much fuel (and old leaky carbs). I've never seen jets small enough to lean them down and still allow the engine to run with that much air flow. They look cool on a show car, and probably a high rpm drag engine, like something suitable for old school mechanical fuel injection. I suppose two sets of progressive linkage could be fitted, but every one I've seen ran all six carburetors together with synchronized air flow.
