Re: SoCal checkin' in
I'm late to this thread but here in San Diego. My 68 C10 is not currently running but my 67 Camaro is ready to go. My truck's getting a new intake, carb, HEI, water pump, fuel pump, front suspension etc. Should be on the road soon. I'll be at the Poway Transmissions car show with my Camaro on September 12, 2009. Check out MotorHeadMadness.com for more info.

Re: SoCal checkin' in
Gentlemen:
Whats going on, Its been a lil quiet in here other than the San Diego people. I'd like to know how your truck projects are coming along. I'll start it off, mine im losing intrest and due to the economy, money is short. Even though im not alone, everyone is tightening there belts due this economy, but since I gave myself a 3 year goal, I will be 50 so if my truck is not done or close, it will be sold, parted out or junked. Thats my issue, anyone else? |

Re: SoCal checkin' in
Vdog, I can certainly feel your pain as far as money is concerned, but that is not stopping me from having fun doing stuff for my truck just that my plans might need to change and that I need to be more creative making/doing stuff. Now mine is never going to be a show truck so the only 'standard' I need to live up to is mine which is easy lol. Why, set the goal though? isn't working on the truck supposed to be the major part of the "journey" or are you looking to just get it done and then cruise with it? That's cool too but it might leave you itching to do another one later on lol. Anyways my little sappy words of encouragement, dont't give up, don't sell it, don't junk it!
If you dont have one already, how about starting a build thread? it's free and I am sure you got a camera right? I know I always enjoy reading other people's build and learn alot too! Just a thought

Somedays are fun others are frustrating. I have a few post on what I was doing but I guess I should put them together. I also still need the truck so I cant just tear it down for now, probably why im frustrated. But thanks for the encourging words. Im still in the game for now. |

Re: SoCal checkin' in
I am kinda in the same boat, my truck needs to stay roadable since it is parked on the street, so any major teardown is not really possible. What I do in the "off" time is some planning etc so when I do get a chance to dig into the truck I have a good gameplan together. Hey the truck might be good therapy for your body, I do computer work all day so I do the work to help prevent carpal tunnel syndrome and does help. Definitely but a build thread together!

Re: SoCal checkin' in
Anytime bud! Besides it works well with the wife too, saying that truck work is therapy, now if I can just get the IRS to see it as a tax deduction and get the insurance company to pay for parts as needing them for treatment, I am all set LOL

Re: SoCal checkin' in
Im serriously thinking about being done with this project. My exhaust leak, this whole time has been 4 lose bolts under the plugs on the passenger side.
I have changed the cam, and broke a stud while doing that, replace the heads, and as I was installing the balancer, I broke the tool and now a bolt is stuck in my crankshaft that I cant get out. United Engine sells a long block recondition for 595 with core, 220hp. All this drama for 4 bolts. Im either going that way or im done with the truck. |

Re: SoCal checkin' in
Sucks, and ive gone through similar crap with engines before as well. Whatever you do, just do it and do what makes you happy. Driving her daily would make you happy
On a side note, the united engine girls look pretty good
