Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Dave,

I got my tank today. Looks great, and faster turnaround than I expected. I do have a couple of dumb questions, though. The sender has a center pole, and one off to the side. Is the center one the positive? Also, I have two empy threaded holes, one in the top, and one in the lower front. The lower front is the fuel supply line to the motor and the empty one on top is for a return line if I need one?

So, what material should the threaded adapter be, brass, steel, etc? Anything I shouldn't use?

Thanks again.

You are right. The 3/8 on the top is a return if needed and the 3/8 on the pass front bottom is your fuel draw.

the center pole is the positive and i always though that pole off to the side was for a ground. Actually that is for a Low Fuel Warning light so that would be neat to have.

Hey I was reading the first few pages of this thread and noticed one guy had a problem with your tank fitting in his 71 with trailing arms. the cross member that is in from the factory at an angle is in the way, he sent his back and had you modify it to fit.....

Has the design been changed since then to accommodate? I have the same suspension setup.

Yes the tank has since changed from then. All tanks have a notch in the rear top of the tank that clears that crooked cross memeber. The tank will fit without any issues as long as it is mounted to the bottom of the frame rail.

nice to see that these are still as popular as ever. Not many changes since my drawing either... Thanks for being a top notch vendor Dave... I still haven't mounted mine since my project is on hold!

Every tank has been finished for a few days. Supposedly there was a nationwide back order on Walbro pumps. we did not receive our order of pumps until Friday last week. They came without fuel socks so i have been on the phone all morning sourcing and overnight shipping what i can get. So if all goes well we should ship all remaining tanks by Wednesday. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Dave.

Just got the tank from UPS! Looks awesome Dave! Can't wait to get it installed. I would like to confirm that the sending unit is setup or not. I don't want to take it apart if I don't need to
