Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4

Ok. So, after looking at both your guys rear suspensions, I have determined someone added a pipe spacer and flat plate to the Side plate that sticks off the rear block. At some point the suspension was overloaded and bulged the frame out do to not having the factory travel the extra pipe piece takes up. I think I can fix it but these are some odd looking rear blocks. I don't have much of a body left but the drive trane is all intact and the 292 turn over freely with the plugs out. I think she will run again. I need to start a build thread but it is going to take a few years to get this thing going. I have three other trucks to make this one. I just need a good long bed or make this a K30 flatbed.

Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4

hey guys having some trouble with the oil filter adapter from the block number i found it was a 79 impala or camaro motor but this oil filter adapter looks like this witch is saying that its from a 68 or later model i also cant find one in a local parts store.

Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4

well it seems that the adapter for the 79 350 would work i'm thinking maybe the P.O had this adapter kit for some reason and shoved her in there.

Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4

I finely got this ol ***** running down the road again. Finely got the oil filter adapter issue settled it ended up needing the right one for its year and some where down the line one of those canister adapters got installed poorly, i also went ahead and changed the oil pan and fuel pump gasket they had as much silicon coming out of them as the oil filter adapter did. The oil pan gasket i bought was amazing it was a one piece dry install gasket worked like a charm!

I also got the hard line done from the pump to the carb it looks so much nicer, now for the tank to the pump!

After everything was said and done i took her for a little spin and she preformed perfectly it is unreal the difference in the carb i kicked the jets down a few and put some new metering rods in, i was also getting gas leaking past into the motor from a high float level so you can imagine the difference i'm experiencing from a week ago you would of though i had a race motor in this thing HAHAH...

Hey Kro, if you just stand them up on the tread and roll them they are easier to move!
