Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I replied to your PM

You can purchase rebuilt '76-'78 Eldorado, Toronado, Riviera calipers from your local auto parts supply or from Summit Racing. I make and sell the levers, cable brackets and springs for $55.00. You will just have to drill and tap one hole on each caliper. Going this route you could have 2 calipers for a little less than one new one. Granted those are rebuilt versus new calipers

I have family in Rathdrum, Sandpoint, and Hope. Beautiful country. I would love to relocate someday!

If I had cores I would send you another $55. I'm gonna see how hard it is to find some cores. Thank You.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Can I get a set of brackets powdercoated in black? I'm also interested in a set of levers, brackets, and springs for the '76-'78 Eldorado rear calipers if you're still making those.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

The powder coating will take up to a week to have done.

Yes I still make the levers, cable brackets and springs for the Eldorado calipers.

I'll send you a PM.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I just want to clarify on a few things before I dive into this rear disc brake conversion.

1st- I want to make sure that on the Eldorado calipers, the nub needs to be ground off, referring to the one in the picture with the arrow.

2nd- I noticed that the lever that bolts to the caliper is not a perfect fit on the hex part that locates the lever on the caliper, but I'm assuming that if I tighten the nut enough it will hold the lever tight?

3rd- Any recommendations on a quality caliper paint?

Thanks, Zach

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

No, do not cut that 'nub' stop off. Some calipers have two of those close to each other. You can see on your caliper where that would be just to the left in the picture.

So the hex in the lever is a little bigger than the hex on the shaft in the caliper? The ones I checked, the lever was a fairly tight fit. if it is a little loose, just rotate it in the direction of travel and tighten the nut. It should be fine.

Eastwood sells some pretty good caliper paint.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I have read the entire thread and have seen the later Eldorado 79-85 mentioned a few times, but I did not see anything that mentioned if they work with captains bracket. Did I miss it? The reason I ask is because I have found a set of the D154 calipers with ebrake, brake lines, ebrake lines and hardware, drilled 5 lug rotors and basically everything else I need for 399. Seems like a decent price.

I would really prefer to use the Wilwood D52's as I will be using them up front, but I need a parking brake.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

The '79-'85 calipers will not work. They are much different from the D52 calipers. If you need an e-brake caliper you can use the '76-'78 Eldorado, Toronado and Riviera calipers as shown in the pic above. Those are interchangeable with the D52 calipers.

A rear disc bracket set that uses the Metric style D154 caliper will be coming. I just do not know just when as there are several other projects ahead of that.

Capt., This from post #458 from about 5 years ago. Any chance you got around to doing this style bracket? I have a set of the metric calipers with the e-brake that I would like to use on my C10 for the rear and keep my 5 on 5 pattern. What are my options with your brackets that you sell? There are kits out on the market, but since I have the calipers, I think I could save some money...

Thanks!

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Sorry but no I have not made any progress on any new rear disc conversion brackets. I am still working 80hrs/7 days a week every week every month......no days off. So I just do not have any extra time. I keep trying but something always comes up and prevents me from developing new parts that I have been talking about for years.

Ten Factory by Motive Gear. Factory replacement axles as my originals were pitted up kinda bad at bearing.

With a 12 bolt you can use any of the three 5 x 5 rear disc brackets that I make including the D52's. Would you like them in bare steel or satin black powder coat?

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Hey captain, have you had any feedback from guys using the 76-78 eldo calipers as far as what to do about e-brake cables? I have found very little info on completed conversions detailing what was used for e-brake cables. I thought I remembered reading about some guys cutting and re-crimping the existing cables but I can't find that info now. Thanks

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I have not had any feedback from anyone on what e-brake cables they are using.

I have purchased a set of these cables, but the ones specified for the '67-'72 and sent them to a customer in the UK. I have not heard back on their fitment.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/380213787534...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I can get you the length of those tomorrow, if that would help.

Sorry for the delay.

The overall length of the cable itself is 43-5/8". The length of the housing where the clips go is 33-1/2"
