Re: Post "Your" 4x4 pic here..........
Thanks, I really like the 68 as well. It's kind of special to me, I grew up right next door to the second owner. I can remember taking rides in it with the owner and my Grandfather when I was real young. The milage is correct, he used it to plow his short driveway, other than that the truck wasn't used often. He parked it for good in 1991 in the back corner of a field behind his house. My uncle finally bought the truck in 2001 and I worked out a deal with him for it.
I found the orig Protect-O-Plate and delivery receipt in the glovebox when I got it. I think it was first purchased by a auto mechanics shop, you can still make out part of a phone # on the bedsides. It does run and drive but the 327 needs a new cam. It has plenty of rust but I have seen way worse in these parts. Also, it hasn't seen any road salt in well over 20+ years. The frame is in excellent shape and this baby is ready for a complete resto. That is my plan anyways, I would like to put it back to stock form. It was orig red, but looks to have been sprayed orange at some point. Some more pics...

Re: Post "Your" 4x4 pic here..........
I am curous if the 68 has an WSM465 or the SM420 transmission. I have a complete SM420 adapter and the T221 from a 67 truck..............i believe that was the last year for the 420s.....Just curious what your truck has.

Here's mine 1970 Burb 4X4 just installed 4 inch suspension lift and 33 inch swampers. Now starts some body work. Not for show just for pulling my trailer. I also have a hard top samurai and I live about 12 miles from badlands. Also included is a pic of sammy. Ya I know once rust is taken care of on burb then the sammy can be started.

The early version SM420 that was put in chevys from 47- well into the late 60s has the reverse position of the handle towards the driver and to the rear.... The 465 has it to the passenger side and the rear.. The 420 has a sliding mesh straight cut granny low... the 465 has a constant mesh clutch type engagement so the throw is very short compared to about 12 inches of throw on the old 420.

I guess i get the joy of posting the baby of the thread. It's nothing compared to some of the beautiful trucks on here but it's slowly starting to learn how to be a 4X4.

Re: Post "Your" 4x4 pic here..........
This thread just goes to show that Chevy/GMC know how to build great looking trucks! Blownz's 84 and jkade's 86 are both very sweet! The 60's trucks post above just have a style all there own, and of course the 67-72's rock. Hard to find any body style that I don't like!
