Re: Our Trucks Doing What They Did - Vintage Photo Thread
That is what I am thinking, just funny that it would be in the showroom though. I would think that would be something the customer would do after buying the truck. And the dealer wouldn't because it would narrow the customer base so much on that one truck.

Re: Our Trucks Doing What They Did - Vintage Photo Thread
I feel like I've seen a similar bed to the one in W Hare's showroom but I can't find a picture.
The S&H Greenstamps logo on the Nickey Chevrolet truck makes me smile. I had to help my mother sort and count piles of green stamps whenever I couldn't find a way to keep myself entertained. Last edited by 1project2many; 09-24-2019 at 07:46 PM. |

Re: Our Trucks Doing What They Did - Vintage Photo Thread
Thanks, Brian. I really like the Mann Chevrolet wrecker. And the tandem axle dump was a neat piece. They didn't have the "pass through" front drive axle like today's rigs. The two rear drive axles each had their own driveshaft which came off a transfer case behind the transmission.

Spotted this while watching Alex Xydias Presents: The Hot Rod Story on Amazon the other night...
Very cool documentary if anyone hasn't seen it.
