Re: Shop Truck refurb, code name Chaser

Yes, the front clip is almost 100% prepped, as is the cab. Probably needs a little edge sanding here and there, that's all. Body man will hopefully get the doors back on it with new pins and bushings today and then I might see it all painted before the weekend.
Of course I have not ordered any of the belt moldings yet, but I have enough stuff here to get a start on reassembly this weekend if it does get painted. I also need to track down a roll of body side molding. Used to be able to get it from Finishmasters, have to call them and see about it I guess.

I was watching him mix primer, and it was running about $30 per mixed quart on the primer. All in all we probably have 2 gallons of mixed primer on it.

The white is on the bed and tailgate! Just got masked off so he can start laying the red base on. Can't wait to see it with clear on it.!

I like that two tone down low like that. I don't think I've ever seen that on a truck.

If that dent didn't bother you, a paint and body man, it would certainly bother me that it didn't bother you!

Her husband is a Tulsa policeman, and has arms bigger around than my thighs (for those that have not seen me, that's big). She's a helluva gal though, love having her around all the time.

And, wow, I found a photo of her husband online. Just to show you I'm serious.

Looks great, Randy. The white stands out a lot more than the tan did.

I had lunch with my SW rep today. They have a new guy in your area, so I told David to have him stop by and say hi.

Ya, I knew their old guy quit on them. I sort of miss Jim, he was a very nice rep for them here in Tulsa.

I knew the white would be fairly loud after we shot the front gravel shield a few months back and put it on. With the fresh red though, BAM!

That looks great! I have been following this thread for a while. Looks like you are almost done with the "restoration."

That's the exact same color combo I wanted to use on my project. I'm pretty sure they came in that color scheme from the factory, but I have had my eye out and can't remember the last time I actually saw one.

My truck needed a new bed and I ended up with a stepside. Now that I'm using the stepside bed I'm going with solid red, but I sure like the way yours looks in red and white.

Looks really good! My old '84 had the red/white two tone from the factory. I always liked it.

Re: Shop Truck refurb, code name Chaser

I think that is the first one I've seen with the red/white combo Monte. The ones I always seen with the red/white had the white down the middle of the truck. Same colors just a different two tone combo (deluxe or whatever they called it) and a factory stripe.

Other than my bed getting painted today, everything else has just fell apart for me in the shop. Seems every job I have out there is basically costing me money in one way or another. I'm about to strangle some parts delivery drivers.

Got the white on it. Hard to tell, but it is white base on the roof and down low. Guys stopped to eat lunch, now they are wrapping the white up and will shoot the red. Oh the excitement.

Looks great, Randy. Now business will pick up so you can't get it put together.

Re: Shop Truck refurb, code name Chaser

Business has to pick up so I can order a few things so we can put it together. I think I have enough stuff to build the doors, planned on putting a new grille and headlamp doors on it, but might just toss the old ones back on for now. Have a new rear sport bumper for it already, which reminds me that I need to paint the gravel guards for the rear bumper. Wonder if they'd look better white or just go back the silver they are supposed to be.

I'm sure I'll be down here tomorrow drooling over it and wanting to do something to it. The hood for sure needs to be nibbed and polished, but for the most part I'll make him leave it alone.

Have everyone set the bad back on before you take off. That way you can get a little assembly done.
