Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Thank's VA! Got it all done and ready to mount back in. Here's some pic's, couple of overall shots and a couple of the worst dings. All and all, not that bad for now. I will install the 70 style when I finish this project.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Yep, ya gotta have a hobby and this is mine. Glad the wife is behind me 100% We were so into it in the late 70"s, to mid 80's, and then came children. But here we are again, back where we started, almost thirty years later! This thing is on now let me tell ya! With CHAOS OFF ROADS help, this will come into some progress soon!

Good progress. I just had my D60 hot tanked a few days ago and need to put some paint on it and start assembly.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Getting some stuff done. Early you talked about a twin stick transfer case. I know that you don't have one yet. I am trying to figure out what the two sticks are for? Thanks. Sorry about the bad wording of my question. How much lift are you planing on running?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Thank's guy's! I am so excited that things are actually ripping on this project after so long! Checked in at CHAOS today and looks like we have a slight delay. Lower part of steering knuckles have a needle bearing and seal that needs to be replaced-both sides on the dana60. Rare part I'm told, about a week to get them at about $200.00! Also, sandblaster shop guy is on vacation for a few days, but it's all good! So far about $600.00 into front and rear rebuild, including the lower bearing kits. Oh, that doesn't account for the $$ spent on Ballistic high steer/crossover, and the rear disc conversion. But it is awesome to see some progress on this, and I have a few months here before the snow flies. Looking at October as a trail run date, so am staying focused on this project! I will post up some some pic's asap!

here is a link .. http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billav...ont/index.html here is one example... $70 per side ... there are also master rebuild kits... I guess it depends on what you were getting for the $200. http://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-135...build-kit.html Last edited by mcmlxix; 07-31-2012 at 09:05 PM. Reason: added link |

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
So far, I did a search, and gonna stay with my local brother and go CHAOS! Lower king pin rebuild kits for both sides, 2 bills- hopefully-1 time!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Parts look good! Flash rust is pretty easy to deal with. depending on what you're painting with it can help it "bite"

Going with the orange color on my steering knuckles- just because I like it! High steer and crossover setup, it should look good!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
John went back to work driving truck the last couple of days, so no progress on axles. That's ok, I have made more progress on them in the last two weeks than I have made on them in the last two years, so I am very happy!

The BUS and the JEEP are back at the shop today. Also saw John there at around 3:30, so hoping he's back and can get wrenching on my 1 ton axles!
