My name is Dan my love for this truck began as I watched Del's build of truck unfold on this thread. I contacted Del but I was about a month to late, he had already sold the truck to Sam. Del and I spent about six months trying to find a new truck to build for me and we ended up buying one from another member. I had a change of heart on the new build because I had a unfinished 63 nova project that I decided to finish first. I gave Del a good deal on the truck we purchased which Dino ended up building into his pro street truck. Once the nova was finished I still had to have one of these old trucks and never forgot Del and Sams 65 so I reached out to Sam and to my suprise a deal was reached about a month or so later. The truck has been home here in Washington about 5 months and I've done a few things to make in my own. After a couple of months of looking for a bbw donor cab for the inner panel and hours of drilling spot welds I got the inner panel out and preped for the install. I had my buddy Scott actually installed the panel and it turned out awesome. We did not touch any exterior paint as we did not want to hurt the great patina the truck has. Here are a few pics after the install and some with the new take off tail gate from earlier in the thread. I hope you all like. thanks again Sam for the smooth transaction and Del your work is as good in person as seen in pics.
I did the BBW swap on my build as well & what a difference. Do you know what brand rear window seal you used? I'm on my 2nd & not happy w/the quality (pinches out near the lower corners).

Re: My 65 Pickemup project

Scoti, Im not sure of the brand but I had the same issue with the seal inside the cab. We were able to use sealant to hold it down. I can pm you where I purchased it. It was your truck and how you did your conversion that we used for reference. Thanks for posting how you did yours and answering my questions.

I agree with Nate. I didn't think this truck could get any cooler. BBW made a huge difference. Simply BAD @$$! The tailgate matches perfect also!

Re: My 65 Pickemup project

wow, as if that truck couldn't get any better...then it does, lol....i have to say, it has passed through some good hands...often to my dismay, a cool vehicle leaves the initial creator and is never quite the same...so glad to see everyone keeping with the originality of this truck! in my opinion, it truly does make it what it is

jmedero thanks again for looking at that truck for me sorry I didn't buy it. It needed to be original paint but it will make a good truck for someone. Thats whats so great about the guys on the forum you didn't hesitate when asked to look at that truck. If you or any other member needs something looked at here in Washington I would be more than willing. It looks like all the good stuff is down in CA,AZ places like that lol

I agree, this forum and it's members totally rock when it comes to helping each other out, and it seems like the snake factor is very low around here. Nice.
Not all the great finds are in the Southwest by the way, my low mile '66 was in a barn very close to you, and had been rained on only a half-dozen times in it's life, if you can believe that. True story.

If you can make it over to the Spokane Good Guys the weekend of the 17th, would be sweet to meet and see your truck!
I will be in the show with my 66 Tempest as my truck is still in pieces here in Alaska else I would have it there too.

I cannot imagine there is a shortage of car shows on that side of the mountains in the summer time though

Duuuuuude, you have no idea how happy I am that you did this. Although I dig both styles that BBW takes it to a new level. Between you and Sam adding your touches the Ol 65 turned out better than I ever could imagine. Awesome job man.
