Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
Guages look way better than I would've guessed, good job.
Poor trucks STILL on jackstands?

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
Raymond, gauges look great. I am still undecided to make mine white faced or not. Was it a pretty easy process?

Thanks Jonathan! And thanks for the parts too!

Thanks. Quite a different look that's for sure. My "process" was quite long and tedious actually, but I'm talking about the modification of adding the extra gauges. Doing the white face part's not bad at all. A little patience, a blow drier, install kit, and time. I definately suggest doing the lens kit too that does the nice black letters and numbers. You'll also have to paint your metal tin inside white too. I used rustoleum gloss white paint. Matches pretty close.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
Well, due to crappy weather and the holiday stuff going on the truck's still sitting up on jack stands. Got the driver side spring cut. Just gotta get the passenger side done.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
Just for safety sakes, wrap a chain or cable through the a frames and inside the coil spring to keep it from popping out and wacking you when things come apart. Lot of energy in one. Good luck. Guages look great. Hurry up and get the how to thread up on the tach. I might try that when I try the speedo mod for my 5.3.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
Alright, come on out. Apparently I can't get it. No progress. Got a few parts I think I forgot to mention, but haven't put them on. A nicer shift indicator and correct pointer, fiber optic cable for that, E-brake cover, and ignition bezel.

Worst thing you will have to do is unbolt the A-arm from the frame and use a hydraulic press on it. If you don't have access to one most auto shops do and can install your new ball joint while they are at it too. Not a good idea to pound a new one in anyway so a press or special ball joint install tool is the only way to go for reassembly.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
I dunno guys. Like I said, just gonna give it some time before I go back to it right now. Plus the weather's about to get cold and nasty, so that'll be my excuse for now. Think I'm gonna get a bigger hammer for next time and a new ball joint fork.

Thanks for the vote man! Wish I'd noticed sooner I would've promoted myself more! But, no updates I've been putting all my time, money and effort into this.....
Also found this poor soul on one of the trails in WV. No telling all it went through to get in that condition. It's a chevy for sure. 1949-1950? It was mostly there just so bent and twisted. I couldn't believe how nice the bumper looked compared to the rest of it. I have more pics of it if any interest.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
Looks like you've been having fun!!!!
Say I was looking at your engine setup what pulleys are you running??? I really like that dual pulley setup! Also what fan are you running? I am gonna need a little extra cooling power with that turbo setup!

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
Hey Adam! The pulley setup came on the engine from PO like that. I agree I think the look cool too, and they work great. I would search around, I'd say some of it's 250 pulleys, some probably small block and so on. The fan is a 6-7 blade steel fan. I'd say it's factory too, just a matter of what it came off of. Small block maybe. Wish I knew more for you, I've just cleaned up and painted what I was givin. I'd like to eventually go dual electric fans personally with aluminum radiator. That should be plenty even for a turbo'd engine. On cooling seems you can never do too much.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
Hey guys! Getting my air hammer and ball joint fork tool set in soon, gonna try and get Copper back on the ground again soon! BUT......he'll be back up in the air soon after that. Going to attempt pulling the tranny and just replacing the seal myself (with some help from a friend at work that's done this before). Plan to clean it up, paint it, and put some new finned aluminum pan and flywheel cover on. Soon I hope. Also gotta get my gauges fully installed so I can fire it up (hook up the oil line).

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
Copper is on the ground! The air hammer did the trick! Glad to have him sitting back on all four again. The rear still sits lower though. Probably by about an inch. I think I'm gonna grab the stock (not heavy duty) springs out of the parts truck I got and see how that looks with stock shocks (not the coil-overs). Also gonna get the fronts off of the parts truck because I'm eventually gonna put four-wheel disc brakes on it and the spindles will be 2 1/2" drop. Which will be all the drop I need. Took a pic or two so you could see what I mean. I guess the Chevelle springs are just too soft.
