Going under gives a straight shot for the exhaust pipes from the collector through the trailing arm crossmember- I'm building a mandrel bent exhaust and didn't like having all those bends right after the collector. Just personal preference- you don't have to hack it, I just prefer it this way. I moved the tranny mount up 1" to match the Dropmember engine mounting position. It is a little higher to clear the rack...

Nice. I'll have to swap back to the straight style when the 5.3 goes in my pickup. I'm gonna try a set of mid length F-body headers on the Blazer to see how they'll work...

Thanks! I used the PB recommended Monroe shock(32245) with the supplied upper mounts. Works perfectly.

I'm using the F-body pan. Clears the Dropmember fine.

For the stock crossmember you may try GM's swap specific pan: LH8 Pan.

There is also a Moroso Camaro swap pan- p/n 20140. I think it requires a remote oil filter though...

I was just curious. I tried the Camaro pan and it was about 1" to long back to front (it just barely hit the back of the front crossmember). I ended up using a Cadillac CSTv pan. It works perfect with the ECE motor mounts. The LH8 pan would have worked also, but it hangs down lower. I gained about an 1" clearance with the Caddy pan.

I finally got my ass in gear and did some work on the Blazer: I built a narrow ('63-'70) 12 bolt rear axle for it; everything is new/rebuilt except the housing. It is stuffed with an Eaton posi and 3.73:1 gear and converted to 5-lug with CPP axles.

This rear is 3/4" narrower per side to better match the front Dropmember's width. It will also help the 295s tuck a little easier.

The first pics show how close the tires are to the quarter panels at full dump. The narrow axle will remedy this, and since I'm building custom tubs, I'll be able to clearance towards the inside as well.

I did manage to get the old axle pulled, but I have a lot of cleanup/painting to do before the new one goes in. Don't laugh at my layers of dust- at least I knocked off the cobwebs before i took pics
