Re: Rods 57
Ok, so I really was not happy with the door after I"fixed" it. it was going to take to much filler to make it right so I had an idea....
I took the whole skin off, Cleaned up the inside |

Re: Rods 57
I took my new 59 and hacked the door skin at the hump and then drilled the spot welds on the inside. I made a tool to pop them off out of sheet metal and a hammer.

Re: Rods 57
Thanks guys it turned out really good. I am happy with it now and wont have to use a lot of filler. That's the last of the major body repairs so now its primer and sanding time. |

Re: Rods 57
Have any of you used the newest vintage air direct bolt in kit? the new gen stuff is suppose to be no modification to the radiator core support and mine is already in powder so I don't want to cut it up.

Re: Rods 57
Forgive me builders for....Its been about two months since my last post.
I sent my bed sides off to a "guy who knows how to sand blast" and he doesnt. both sides trashed. so I got new ones cause it made me sick to think of all the work I had in the other ones. I also put on tailgate straps too. |

Re: Rods 57
My brother in law came over in his truck to help me Sunday and brought his truck. the doors were from a local truck shop from "back in the day" and we lucked on to them. that's the original paint from the shop just primed over it and wet sanded it off.

Re: Rods 57
My fuel tank was a side fill and I just could not find anything out the side that I liked so my son in law, who welds for a living, came over and schooled me on aluminum welding. Now its a rear fill.

Re: Rods 57
Sorry to hear about the bed sides. Mine were warped from someone using a cutting torch to remove the bed floor angle strip. I fought the warp for a long time til I got fed up with it. I went with the Mar-k brand, very impressed with the quality.
I also gotta say, that aluminum welding looks great. |

Re: Rods 57
Just found your build the other day, Looks great . I had a question on your front springs, mine sits up like yours is now , My springs were right at 18" long and a SOB to get compressed in there. What were the length of your springs? I found 3 different ones at NAPA 16,17,18" . You kept the ones you had correct or did you go with the lowering springs?
