Re: Project 30 years sitting

So motor started for the first time tonight since cam swap. But it fired off on second try. Pass fender is in self ectching primer after sanding off a coat of filler primer. So it will be layed outta the way and hopefully early next week I can take the door off, replace box, skin, and convert it to metal panels rather then plastic.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

Alright, back in business. Was out of town for a week, trying to sell parts, and bought an utv for work and had to do a few things to it for our use. So, working on fixing door rust. New box, patch from an old door set, and will be re-skinning it. Swapping it to metal door panels as well.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

When it was parked for all the years, the door was left hanging open. That also caused one of the hinges to to jam up and be replaced.

Got some bondo smeared on it last night.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

Lokin, Thanks. I had a few hickups getting the paper work. But I do have title and its clean with no special markings. Looks the same as all my other ones.

Got the skin on tonight. First attempt. I think it looks good Obviously learned a few things I can apply on the next one. Biggest disappointment is that the tool is so large, I can not get it at the angle I need for the bottom flange.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

fender redone, bolts in all holes, hood on..... which was more of a task than it sounds. Found out the hood was twisted quite bad, and the hinge I got off my parts truck was worse than the one that was in the wreck.

Yes...I'm curious about your reception as well. I have been thinking about this a lot. There are no good locations, and most manufacturers want it on the roof or on a deck lid if it's a convertible. I just want it invisible and I do not want to drill any holes (pipe dream). That would be a great location if it works.

This was started in another posting. But that is magnetic, and I normally put it on my wiper cowl. So it IS visible, No holes, but I have no reception problems.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

LMC #36-4413 (qty2). You have to drill the rivets out of a stock set of housings. Then use the "rivets" they provide, and expand them with a punch. Not a rivet gun. The right housing is the one that was in the wreck.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

ehh, the chrome rings started falling off after about a year. I ended up pulling all of them off, asking on hear and getting some epoxy glue and re-gluing them.
