Re: tilly to the rescue

Morning from my bed Clem....... OK, not my bed, but still waking up. Have to go to London today and tomorrow.

What a great update to find.

The dash looks awesome, as does the rest of the transformation.

You guys are doing this truck justice.

Very inspiring. Thank You!. The Engine color and aluminum parts look fantastic. Even the fittings from the heater core are a great contrast. Not sure if its the pic but it looks like the top of the dash is Satin and the rest Gloss. Pretty awesome paint job. Something to aspire too!

ON the engine codes, continuing the mystery. Could he have requested a different engine not normally in the trucks but maybe cars or big trucks?? Maybe wanted more power or torque.

Since the SPID notes the "Z20EA Engine Conversion", would that mean that it was done at the factory and not at the dealer? Or were the SPID's applied by the dealer back then? Could the Z20EA option be dealer installed parts that were shipped with the truck from the factory?

I believe the "Engine Conversion" refers to emission equipment applied at the factory for CA trucks.
RPO Z20 engine conversion , the conversion was to RPO K19 which is "Air Injection Reactor" or A.I.R. / Smog . You might notice extra groove pulleys or pipe plugs in the exhaust manifolds or an extra tube coming out the air cleaner base. Nice truck. Likeing the black one to !

i thought that at first but now i think it was a dealer thing not factory. the orange engine seems to have the same aging as the rest of the surrounding area but the suffix on the block is not a match with the vin. in fact its not a normal sequence of vin numbers at all. odd...?

yeah, i don't think its factory but dealer installed. probably when it went from California to Colorado the owner nixed the AIR stuff and had the dealer put a 4 barrel 327 in the truck. just guessing, but sounds reasonable.

Re: tilly to the rescue

If the red truck is still available in sand springs I told you about a year or so ago, you need to buy it. It was a very solid truck with original paint. You just don't see them like this one very often. I may still have his number in my phone, I bought the original wheels and painted hub caps that came off the truck.

Re: tilly to the rescue

Looked in my phone, I guess I deleted his number. I am pretty sure I could drive to it again, or draw you a map. It was pretty easy and there was a couple more trucks there and sitting in back yards along the drive.

Re: tilly to the rescue

thanks guys... Gus is felling real welcome at his new home and this forum. Me, i feel like a pin cushion, why is it that when a puppy is teething his teeth are as sharp as needles. And how can 20 lbs of poop come out of a 10 lb puppy, twice in the same hour. It defies modern science...

we sure love the little guy...
