Re: 1957 chevy family truck
Great story! Great build! Nice that you saved her! Congratulations!
What did you decide to do with the bowed tailgate? Were you able to straighten it? if so...how? Or did you leave ... or did you bite the bullet and buy a new one?

Re: 1957 chevy family truck
I straighten it. I was told it is the redneck method. Laid it on couple 2x4's, put it under my tire and slowly lowered the truck on it till it was straight. Crazy think work like charm

Re: 1957 chevy family truck
Beautiful pics. I like the second one the best. The bike looks good too. I had one like it when I was a kid. It is still at my parent's house. I've been thinking of grabbing it and putting one of those 2 stroke engine kits on it.

Re: 1957 chevy family truck
so I came up on a target motor for cheap so I decide to drop her in my truck in the next few weeks. what direction should I go in? stock or custom? I know if I go for the stock look I will have to do some modifying to use all the stock looking parts on a 350 motor

Re: 1957 chevy family truck
Personally I like the old school look. Goes with the rest of the truck.

Re: 1957 chevy family truck
I like both engines, but in your case I would go with Custom, because the truck isn't stock anymore.
I think it will look great when you open the hood and you "see" horsepower!

Re: 1957 chevy family truck
yeah I'm leaning that way. figured most people would expect a stock motor sitting underneath the green paint but bam its going to be a chromed out small block
