Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler
Heads look cool Bill
The general rule of thumb is that dual plane manifolds with a split chamber (like the one in the picture above) are better for street engines (they make better torque/ power at low revs) and single plane are better for race engines as they are better at high rpm. But of course it's much more complicated the that and heads camshaft etc all have to be considered in the mix. I ran a 9 second car with a dual plane!

Dual plane! That's the term I couldn't remember.
Well I'm only building a street truck but hell 9's would do! Last edited by MacQuigley; 10-22-2016 at 07:36 PM. |

As someone who is used to building Morris Minors and Land Rovers, to be honest, I'll be happy with anything under a week and a half!

My family is from Leeds originally so I understand..
What I'm curious about is the size of a C10 on some of those streets and left hand drive...

Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler
On think Ive still to decide upon is what fuel tank I want. I'm not going to go original and I will put the tank under the bed at the rear, I just don't know what tank to fit.
Martin has sent me details of the tank he had specially made and something similar is an option but I'm thinking Id rather have something off the shelf as it would make it easier to replace should it ever become necessary to replace it. I have no issues making up any brackets to mount a tank but has anyone got any suggestion on which tank to fit? I'm thinking something like this as an option:- https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...-n-2/overview/ What do you think? And what have others used? |

Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler
If I were to redo mine I would try to install a camaro type tank and try to get the filler to come out behind the license plate.

Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler
Had a look on the Tanks Inc website and found that Camaro tank, which is an option but I also found this which is another option;-
http://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/pa...rod/prd216.htm I guess with this one thought Id have to run with an external pump as there seem to be only one hole which I assume will need to be used for a sender unit. |

Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler
Anyone else having problems with Photobucket this week? Struggled to logon and then to upload pics. Anyway finally managed to get a few up there.
That's the engine in primer now, should have it painted over the weekend. I'm going to replace the sump, so I'm not bothering to paint it. This is actually my dad's intake, mine is already in black (but the pic wont load) Can anyone tell me if I can buy a replacement lens for my interior light? Ive not been able to find one that matches. |

Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler
In order to maintain what little sanity I have left I needed to do something other than fill, sand etc. So I decided id paint the block.
Not finished yet and I wont be using these rocker covers but I'm quite happy the way it came out I did manage to chip one head and a bit of the block but its only back together temporarily so I'll touch it up after final assembly. Sadly it was back to filling and sanding again tonight. I had to completely redo the drivers door having forgot to account for the door rubber. Oh well never mind! |

Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler
Technically the engine stand us up for the weight. I'm not so sure. Better safe than sorry and have a hole where the floor used to be!

Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler
If I'm not mistaken I believe this tank fits the rear of the truck frames. Although with yours being a '62, you have more room than the '63+ frames.
http://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/pa...rod/prd114.htm One of the universal tanks designed for EFI might be a better fit.

Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler
Thanks to John (Captainfab) I was finally able to complete a couple of tasks that I think just about complete all the welding I have to do.
The first was to repair that internal cab corner. This is how the cab came This is the bit John sent me having received a coat of zinc rich primer Then a bit of cutting Some welding and filling Then it was onto the dash I was never happy with the repairs I made to the switch panel So out it came And in went the part from Captainfab After a bit of trimming and blasting Followed by some welding and grinding Then once again back to sanding, filling etc I'm not particularly happy with the gaps round the instrument bezel. I need to come up with a way to fill that. Id rather not make it a permanent fixture but it may be that That's how I have to do it ie screw it in place then fill it. Just means the only way to remove the instruments is either individually or from behind, which wont be a big issue until I put the steering column back in, then it will get tricky. |

Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler
Nice job on the internal cab corner Bill, would've been a beast to fix without the repair piece.
Wish I was finished welding

Re: The Super Duper Haggis Hauler
I'm wanting to buy a hydraulic press for my garage. With the C10 in mind does anyone have any recommendation on size ie will a 20 tonne press do most of the jobs on a C10?
