I will miss it, having driven it again this morning.

Still, it has not sold, but the car I have seen, but never seen up in real life, is 300 miles from here, a non Chevy car, straight six and lazy auto box and who knows, it may still not deliver what I need.

How time flies.

Bought it more than 10 years ago.

And my taste in slightly weird, certainly practical Cars has not really changed.

So today the one Bootfair was slow, and only half a field.

The second, larger one was filled with pink sh!t and nothing of interest at all.


Still, I managed to buy this roll of upholstery vinyl leatherette for £7.00 or $10.00 and have it planned for the Blazers possible replacement



Ford wagon was 20p or 25cents

I still remember the Pontiac LeMans wagon from a few years ago...... really liked that.

And maybe should have bought it, still, too late for regrets.

Found mate @CraigRK a small Meccano bike and sidecar for 50p



So home early.

Haul included these bits.



Bunch of Lesley Matchbox cars and trucks, no idea why, just needed them.




Wagon and Mercedes Benz may be my favourites



Big Union Jack blanket thing is ideal for rear of Blazer or a picnic, and at £1.00 a no brainier, already washed and hung out.



Shell fuel Bowzer will go to St Louis in September for Dennis’ gas station.



Cooler bag and six freezer bricks was £1.00 for Sally, as were three boxes of tea light candles.

So nothing much but a few bargains.

Meanwhile on UKGSER the guys are trying to figure out the possible replacement for the Blazer once it sells.

Not as unrelated as it may seem.

Remember the roll of vinyl Leatherette I bought last weekend?

Unrolled it yesterday to see just how long it is.



Well, more than twice what I thought, so at £7.00 for the roll, makes it cheap.

This is double so x2



And some more, you do the maths.......



Adding it all up, comes to 38 foot by 4 foot or in modern measurement 11.6 meters long and 1.450 wide.

Colour is a bit deceptive at this distance and angle.

My friend Dennis has been hampered by the amount of rain in Missouri this year, but managed at last to cast the island for his Shell gas station yesterday, and again, it started to rain just as they finished the job.

He also finished an English sign, which in the USA means Burnouts





Almost done, final flatting was due.




The Blazer was parked up outside, sideways on my drive yesterday just in case someone saw it and was interested.

You never know.

Father’s Day sucks.....

Unless you are a father or have one.

Bootfairs were both small.

This meant having to go slower and looking deeper.

Sally on camera duty it seems.




First blood to me, with a new, unused leather belt for one of my work suits.

Shortly after Craig got a turn.

Fully functioning traffic lights, or Robots as they are known in South Africa

Then Sally saw this balance bike for her grandson. Seller: £5.00 Me: will you take £4.00

Used, but like new.



Retail price for these are a bit more.



Craig again. £2.00 for a mixer tap he plans to use at his caravan camping site with a used kitchen sink that came out my kitchen 8 years ago.

Last night was Copperfields foe Americans and Hotrods.

And dinner too.

Starting up, and pulling the Blazer out front, and then Sally and I driving over toward Gravesend made me grin madly.

Ready to Rock n Roll.




On the Bypass I was motoring along at 70 and saw a guy in BMW M3 pull next to me, blow his horn and thought WTF W@nker, when the Thumbs Up came through his passenger side window.
That made us chuckle, I think Sally is still getting surprised at the random attention it draws.

2019 USA Road Trip Tickets have been purchased !!


So we are flying into St Louis, Missouri again.


The anchor points, and only fixed part to the whole trip will be arrival and departure dates.


We will be there for Labour Day and Dennis’ Birthday




Remember the Glider bench Craig and I managed to snatch for Dennis on the second half of the trip? Along with some Shell chairs.

Busy weekend.

Worked late in London Friday.

Yesterday Sally and I cut back all the hedges, weeded the beds, trimmed shrubs making the garden look a million dollars as they say. She had brought along Bear, her dog so he was happy too.

By 4pm she left to clean up and and get the dog home.

Back by 6pm and then we headed out to meet friends for dinner at the Turkish place.

No regrets there, everything was magnificent as usual and the beers were cold.

Such an undiscovered jewel.



Back home by 11.00pm and a rubbish night later up by 05.30 to go to a Bootfair and Breakfast Meeting in the Blazer.


Back seat drivers have their uses

Included two packs of Jubilee clips at £1.00 per pack, some soft toys, Star Trek toys, razor blades and a lovely plate that cost me £2.00

After my Bootfair walkabout, I headed over to Sevenoaks to the Kent Breakfast Meeting

Most of the usual suspects were there.



Loved this home made roof lining in the Ford Wagon.





Loads of beautiful cars there again.

But my personal favourite was this Buick Skylark.

Looking decidedly dinky next to the Blazer.

I need one of these.

Being on various interest forums, from motorcycles and adventure riding to garage forums and much in between I do mix with and am exposed to, but also get noticed by many.

This week this was a PM from Australia

I love the idea and even more the fact that people like Gary want to share what they have.

Imagine 14km or 8 plus miles of Autojumble stalls.

Spent a total of £6.00 on the Blazer today.


Mate Craig had gone over to Dez in Essex to collect some stuff, including a Rallye wheel that had come from KevfromWales at the end of last year.

So he then delivered it when he collected a few things from my place.

The wheel and disposable tyre.



After they left, I toook the spare from the Blazer, fitted to an alloy and the new to me Rally down to Bradford’s garage on Mickey next doors recommendation

Nice job for Prozac the little van that still can.

Separated.



Then the steel was cleaned, ground and sealed afresh, and tyre from the alloy fitted.



Came home in Prozac, washed and surface prepped the Rallye steel wheel.
Masked it all off, then pulled an old T-shirt over it and tucked it into the masking tape.




Poundlands best gloss black.

Applied.



Both sides painted black.




Centre cap fitted back.



And lastly, chrome trim ring set it off.





Back in the rear of the Blazer

Yup, I like it for £6.00

Drinking time now.

Ohhhh, and a spec sheet for the car compared to the real estate to Blazer takes up.

Basically the biggest concern to me now, is how much space it takes up, going down the side of the house in reverse.

Remember my street sign from the antiques mall on last years road trip??

But this morning quickly sorted that out.





Hot humid and not nice with the added bonus of Thunder Bugs.

Look at their size vs hair on my arm.



I was going to quickly replace the porch on the woodwork shed



But then Sally and Bear the dog came around and invited me for a walk.

Guess what won.

So off to the Isle of Grain.

Next up was my turn.

1.450 meter wide of upholstery fabric in blue at about 20 foot or 7 meters.

Cost........ £1.00



Add this £1.00 to the £7.00 for last weekends 38 foot or 11 meters of brown Leatherette and some rusty steel, and you my friends have a patina package.

Anyone got a cheap upholsterer or industrial sewing machine I can use...?

Bit of a weird anniversary.

A year ago, Dennis in St Louis broke and levelled ground for his replica 1940’s Shell Gas Station



It was to be a self build, after hours, hobby build.

Materials came, bits purchased.





Now looking like this.







So yesterday I came home via a scrap and recycling yard, yup, going back to them....




When I stopped on my drive, there was something tucked behind the gate.



Initially I thought it was Harley that had been run over and slung over the gate.

Of course it was not, thankfully

Got in and when I opened it.......

I realised.

Another act of random kindness.

I had recently got a pile of stuff from @Disasterbus and offered some of it out.

The magazines were claimed by @eternaloptimist and I posted them off to him.

This parcel originated in Glasgow though, so confused me a bit.

Still, it makes me smile that this whole paying it forward concept works in such different ways for all of us.

I love real Mountain Dew and someone had taken note and randomly “repaid” the postage, not that there was ever a “repayment” plan or agreement.


Just puts it all into context.

Well......

@CraigRK and I are both as bad as each other.

We are always coming up with random stuff to make, create or recycle.

Getting each other excited and worked up till we make rash decisions

So this thread will hopefully OUT-RANDOM the Random stuff some of you have come to expect from us.

Feel free to add, comment, advise and most importantly donate bits if you feel you can improve what’s being created.


So yesterday I stopped at the scrapyard on the way home to look for some bits we needed for this little project.

Found a tractor. Minus motor.



Got home with these.



So after a mid year discussion with my boss today I stopped over at Craigs place off J9 of the M25 (Big mistake) on the way home to pick up some more bits and drop stuff off for him.

Back seat of my car, also had a roll of roofing felt for Sally’s shed roof.




Eventually got home at 7pm as the M25 had a 75 minute delay on the way back.

Unpacked the car. Fed the cat.

Laid out the basics.



Added colour.
