Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I did get a couple of things done or at least started last night. Boxed in the frame at the fuel filler point and started to build my adjustable panhard bar. Note on the panhard bar. If you are not TOTALLY confident in your fabricating/welding capabilities do not attempt this. Just imagine cruzing down the highway at 60mph and snap! I'll leave the rest to your imagination. Some will tell you that there is no stress on the panhard bar but it is what keeps everything centered over the rearend. Proceed with caution. I'll try to finish up tonight and post a complete list of pics so you can see how I did this.
Have a good day all. PS I am just a goober in his garage that likes to mess with old cars/trucks. I have been fabing/welding on something or another for 20+ years. I've made my share of mistakes. I did not attempt to do any structural (frame or other) modifications until I was able to confidently control heat and penetration with my welding. I have never been certified but I have tested many of my welds and also cut cross sections to examine. For me...I trust my work, for me. Cheers. Attached Images |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I'm such an idiot! I checked my oil an noticed it was about a half quart low. I topped it off and promptly drove it 8 or 9 miles with the PCV valve out of the rocker arm cover!!! I did smell something burning but I thought it was the little bit of oil I spilled on the headers.
Oh well, everything now has a nice protective oil coating on everything. It looks like I only lost 4 -6 ounces of oil. Getting older is for the birds!! Keith Last edited by lil hoodlum; 03-15-2012 at 11:57 PM. Reason: I can't spell PCV |

Installed a new fuel filter and headlight switch. Fixed all but one of my side marker lights. Removed the tommy lift tailgate. Man was that thing heavy!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
What are the rims priced like 1quik70, they look like a nice rim, what width for the 33" tire. Those are very nice tires have had them before 2.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
The wheels were $597 to my door with lug nuts. They only come 9" wide, which was exactly what the tire recommends!
The firewall massage was all the previous owner! Not to brag but my work looks better, LOL. I daily drive this truck, so I didn't have the time to do the firewall while I had the motor out. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Good price on the wheels, I just bought 12" wide Mickey T. classic2's @$600 for a set of 4. and I may just like yours a bit more, nice style, may be a little more for a 12" though, I had to go wide because I bought Pitbull Growlers and they recomend a 12" rim for the 35/14.50/15 tire. It is hard to find a wide rim in something I like that doesn't cost too much. You did good.
