Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Went ahead and yanked the cab off the frame since I'd recently pulled the front clip; found dirt/rust stockpile in the old heater…

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got the door handles mounted. I decided to have a matched set of locks so I won't always have to go through the passinger door to get in.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
got the brakes squared away, figured out the travel on the vacuum assist and the master cylinder, finally got the brakes bled, had to have brakes before we fire it up........and take it to the exhaust and front end shops. did get the fuel tank in, and the filler neck, and the door in the bed.....had problems with the tailgate paint-----we think it is just too da........ hot and the paint lifted when we tried to remove the masking tape around the letters. Oh well no one said it was doing to be easy...........Just put fuel in it, had to run out and get a remote starter button--------

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Verified that it was an out-of-round tire causing a bounce in the rear end. Found out we have air-shocks in the rear. We also have just about 100% original truck.. including the muffler lol. That truck runs QUIET. Pics later..

I finally painted my motor and started painting some of the brackets and such today. No show job or nothing, didnt even pull the motor. Just wanted to spruce it up and remove close to 50 years of massive grease build up haha

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Scored a 1962-63 era Moon 3 gauge panel with external lights, so more dash modifications are in order. The two outboard gauges on the main panel will be replaced with shallow bullets and the gauges relocated to the new accessory panel below the dash. The external lights were never very efficient. They mostly glared on the glass lens of the gauge, but I always loved their appearance. The bulb covers closely match the 49 Ford style dash knobs.
Here’s an old photo of what the panel looks like. More pictures to follow next week when the project is complete. |
