Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Adjusted my headlights...
Driver-side was pointing up in the air and the passenger-side was off to the right blinding pedestrians, walking toward me on the sidewalk.

Went to a car club meeting tonight and discussed all our builds and got a few cool ideas on mine with a twist so good night with work planned soon.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I got my new door handles installed. It was a very simple job other than having to drill out 3 screws on my drivers door panel.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I adjusted my bed on my 70' shortbed. Next I will be removing the stock spot lights, adjusting the front bumper, replacing the grill which has a dent in it, pull out a little dent in the hood, and buff it out (It's all original and in really nice shape considering the age)

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

72 cummins which model did you use!!!??? I talked with them and they told me I would have to order the ford center and fabricate my own brackets! So I ended up buying a blue diamond and am going to have to modify it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Tonight was a successful night. It's funny how it goes. One day everything you do takes forever and the next things just sort of fall into place. I was able to build my rear upper shock brackets (to move it up and back) and modify my bed cross sill (spot welded in) to allow clearance for my gas tank. I had a differnt take on the upper shock mount brackets. I used the originals, cut them up and welded them to a piece I had cut out mounting the gas tank. It allowed me to move the mount point 1.75" up and 4.5" back. The shocks will nearly mount in a vertical position. I also moved a frame cross sill that was not square. It was driving me crazy. Each time I walked by the truck it looked like it was leaning to one side. Measured the frame to floor and it is only off 3/8". It was the frame cross sill the panhard bar is mounted to. The passenger side was 1.75" farther to the rear that the drivers side. Removed the rivets (have I said how much I HATE rivets ) and squared things up. I welded it into place and also welded the main cross sill while I was at it. That should stiffen things a bit. Now it's time to take it all apart, clean it up, prime and paint. While my son is home over spring break we will stand the bed on it's front so I can finish the work on that, prep/prime and paint the bottom. Progress!

Nothing big. I drove it ... with no particular place to go. Great weather today. Ended up in a state park beside the river.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Tried to get the back wheels centered in the wheel-wells, but it was a no go. I guess when you lower these "bad-boys" the triangulation of the trailing arms pushes the wheel centerline backward in the wheel-well.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Put a heater blower motor in. The third trip to the parts store, I finally got a good motor. The first one I brought home squealed worse than the old one. Took it back they didn't have one, had to drive to another town to get one.

I used a ECE 4.5/6 & after reading a bunch of posts on this site It went on easy as pie. I think the hardest thing was the first rivet on the shock brackets that had to come out.......Even cooler went with my son on a truck hunt and he came home with a 69 c10 that even had the original manual and protecto plate in the glove box.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Bought a unknown turbo 350 from KrazyRay and when I took it apart it was a fresh rebuild!! The guys next door to my work at Lodi Transmission gave me all new gaskets and seals. So for a total investment of $10 I have a completely rebuilt transmission to go into my truck!! I am so stoked, thanks to board member KrazyRay. He is a super nice guy and awesome to deal with I suggest you look into what ever he is selling, you won't be disappointed.

Exhaust mock up. I really do not like the ball and socket flange. The plan was to do the exhaust with out welding.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Yesterday I took out my old carrier bearing crossmember, and put in the "new" one on my C-30.

Today, I found an original tach dash at a yard sale for $40!
