The contractor on our house is lazy and can't seem to make a decision.

I'm surprised he doesn't quit the way she talks to him sometimes. She has cut his pay in half several times.

That is one our most common exchanges.
I say "Well, you wanted me."
Her, "Funny, I can't remember that at all.".

Actually we get along pretty well. She has been my biggest supporter in my ventures. Scared sometimes, but supportive.

I figured you two got along well. So well you have to pretend to give each other a hard time to feel normal

Because it was for the left rear tire and wheel, and they couldn't actually afford even that!

yah it's all fun and games teasing me about my old heaps until she's off work on a weekday and needs my gmc while the nanny is using her car

can you drive the longhorn or a suburban to work?

maybe I should say no but she can - that'll teach her to appreciate them more

nah, that'll just land me in more hot water

at least the kids like 'em! they get excited when I take them to school or pick them up in the old trucks

my 11yo son announced he wants to take his driver's license test in the 4 speed longhorn

he drives the automatic longhorn pretty well already so who knows, might just let him

Re: My Facetruck thread.

Not England? I never do, but end up in other states. Plenty of town names repeat across the USA. Independence, NC is a cool town at the foot of the northern end of the Smokies most never heard of. Lots of Cumberlands. Maryland's was the far west in colonial times. Folks made it to there and stopped. "I ain't climbing up that mountain to find land. I ain't a goin' no futha!!"

Re: My Facetruck thread.

Damn memory. Look up Independence, VA. I came through there coming back from the Smokies in '05. That was the last summer with my wife. For my 50th birthday we rented a Harley dresser and toured WNC and East Tenn. came back on the road that runs along with I-81 to the south, to Roanoke. Beautiful country

Re: My Facetruck thread.

A few years ago the bride and I were cruising down I-81 at Roanoke, VA in a 1970 SS 454 El Camino minding our own business and loving life when we hit a trailer jack laying in the center of the west bound lane.

The foot of the jack knocked a hole in the oil pan.

We called the Chevy dealer and they sent a rollback. They ordered me an NOS oil pan and had me back on the road the next afternoon. Great people.

Insurance paid for the whole thing.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

that's a great memory Larry, and awesome car! I swept my bride away in her prius

$75 courthouse wedding, changed clothes to haul trash out of house we were buying, and had 7-11 hotdogs for lunch

it was a rental and the owner, a b52 pilot in vietnam, made an awesome deal with us at his kitchen table.. fsbo and with his help closed a va in '09 in like 32 days, unheard of at the time.. had to pass va appraisal which can be tough and they only deal with seller.. but in this case they had to deal with me, seller already gave us keys

anywho back to that momentous day, met some buddies of mine at the house, they brought a construction dump trailer and helped us fill it in less than an hour for our wedding present, love those guys!

headed north to yosemite to get lost the forest in the dark, turned around to go back the other way from what we thought was a wrong turn less than a mile short of the lodge

but that crazy day and long drive led us, eventually, to a warm cozy cabin with a fireplace, river front patio, and giant jacuzzi tub

next day while the new Mrs. Bee was trying to kill me on what seemed like a hundred mile hike, appraisal comes in over the mark, we would become homeowners in just a couple of weeks

she has a picture somewhere of me at a turnout from the trail with my phone to head and a deer standing behind me listening anxiously with us

so some people scoff at a our modest event but we bought a house that in a couple of years will yield a hefty profit and with the exception of the dwindling mortgage, we've lived debt free with plenty in the coffers - gotta love a practical woman!

oh, and I retired from the nav about two weeks after, that was a busy month!

I hate when that happens. But love when good people help you make the best of a bad situation.

My wedding? My bride to be and I rented a pavilion at Washington Monument State Park (the first Washington Monument) on South Mt in Boonsboro, MD, decorated it up, made the red velvet wedding cake at my sister's place (the one in Maine now) with my folks present, rode the Harley to the park, she changed into her wedding gown in the restroom building, we had a great time eating food we made, with my B.I.L. playing guitar and my sister (one in VA) sang our wedding song, and we rode off into the sunset (after she changed) for our honeymoon in the Shenandoah Valley. Such a beautiful and natural way to commence a disaster (eventually, that is )

Our wedding song. Duanne Allman playing with Cowboy:

Charp Cheby. My favorite muscle car, that is a truck

I meant to post a picture of the Washington Monument built on top of the mountain by the people of Boonsboro, MD in 1827. Construction of the one in Washington, DC began in 1848, nine years before my house was built
