Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Went to take my daughter for a ride this weekend, engine turned over, and then starter wasn't turning the flex plate. Looked under the truck and found this. Seems to be a common problem with the aftermarket PMGR starters. Tried installing a replacement from Napa and it was bad out of the box so I spent $3.60 on 3 new machine screws to mount the starter to the mounting flange (thanks to some great comments on the Summit site). I'm really glad this happened in my driveway and not 60 miles from home!

Thanks, CPP springs and shocks. 3 5. Tires are 235/75/15. The drive shaft is right down the middle of the hole. I want to put on spindles and blocks to go 5.5 and 7. I did use the old lower rear shock mount brackets to get another 1/2 inch. So it is actually 5.5 rear. Not pretty but it was a free .5. Will do a notch as well.

Getting ready to start the rust repair, removed the bed today at work. Drove it home about 8 miles on the city streets with my make shift tail lights. Fully functional of course.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I broke it.

On the way home from work, I heard a hissing sound, and soon the power steering wasn't. Popped the hood to find the expected spray of fluid in the front left corner. I man-handled him home, and now I have to refill the pump to see where the leak is. I *think* its a hose and *hope-and-pray* it's not the box.

When I could not get enough hood to fender gap(on passenger side) with my aftermarket hood, decent gap on driver's side I put a hopeful ad on Craigslist.Jim not only had an hood in excellent shape but drove over an hour to deliver it,so I learned that when you get disgusted and don't know what to do next---it is going to work out.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Finally got brake fluid squirting from all four corners on my K10. Found the rear flex line had collapsed inside--likely original. Some more bleeding to do to get it right as the master cover (rebuilt unit) leaked so I used the old one.

Also installed the new glove box insert and will be doing the door and window seals as well as some other small items.

Pertronix is next.....

You drill a hole in the bottom of the door and run the hot wire to a constant 12 volts. Then the ground to the door jam ground so when you shut the door it turns off. The flash washed it out.
I bought them off E Bay!
Here is his add.
Takes about a week and half to get them.

Started the tear down, no big surprises yet. The speaker holes behind the seat really irritate me. Need to get the fuel tank out and weld in some braces.

Yesterday, I took a broken header off. Today, I put one new one in, along with replacing the fuel pump and filter. (There's nothing like getting a gasoline bath right before supper!). Tomorrow, finish up the other header and put a new temp sending unit in. Pretty fruitful weekend, so far

Fit the new grille, mocked up some radiator brackets, and sat the bed back on the frame to get an idea on how Im going to do the fuel fill with the Boyd tank and stripped the driver side of the bed and uncovered quite a bit of work its gonna take to get it straight. No rust hidden under all that paint and bondo though.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Got to take mine on a road test and drove it about 120 miles to San Antonio.
I finished my transmission swap about two weeks ago and I'm loving the overdrive.
I put a 200-4r in and cruise at about 2250 rpm to do 75 mph.
Glad to be able to drive it again as it has been down for about 3 1/2 years.

What rear gear are you running? That's one of the trannys on my possibility list..
Congrats on getting yours back on the road.

Installing Vintage AC in the Blazer. Good AC is a must have for the Power Tour.
