Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Picked up my seat back from the upholstery shop . Did not like the way it was made at all . Didn’t fit right cut wrong and had the sail pieces to cover the side bracket’s like 69 and up . The owner of the shop I had met at a couple of shows and this is the first time I used his services. Very fast turn around dropped of Thursday was done Monday morning very reasonable too . Had him add some of the original seat skin to the bottom of the seat so it wrapped around like the original . He also cut the sail piece and restitched the piping to give it a finished look around the hinge . As you can see in the second picture the whole bottom of the seatback was open . Third picture it wraps around like original

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Seat is not good . The pleats running from left to right on the seat back are short . There are 10 pleats per panel each pleat is 2.125 inches on the seat bottom it is exact on both sides .

The seat back however has 8 pleats per panel at 2.125 the other two outer ones are 1.862

Also the center panel in the seat back is 8 3/8 inches while the seat bottom is 8 1/2 inches. So the run lost just about an inch when you get to the drivers side . I’m just going to have to live with it since even my upholstery guy said he can’t match the color . PUI doesn’t even offer it anymore

Went to my pops’ house to help him with some things he couldn’t do. We needed to go to the hardware store so decided to take Maynard for a hardware store run.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Finished installing the rebuilt transmission in the wife's 72 last night. All good now, works better now than it has since she has owned it. Transmission shop turned it out in 3 days for me. That's a lot better than the end of February which is what they had told me it would be if I waited for them to do the r&r for me.

Does using 68-72 parts in your 73 count?
Local upholstery shop made a notch for the visor clips.
Floppy squarebody visors no more.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Put together some new wiper arms for the 70. Used the "J-hook" portion of some 2002 Silverado wiper arms, then drilled out the rivets on a spare set of original arms. Adjusted the arm length in the older base sections. drill and added stainless screws to hold them in place. Painted them up, then put on a new set of 15" blades. I had done something like this on my older 66 since it was so hard to find blade refills for the old style that would stay on the arms.

Looking good! I had to order a pair of wiper blades from my local NAPA, and they had to match pictures, as nothing was listed for a '70. Weird.

Yep that was the issue I was having. And if I happened to find one, it was the cheaper plastic ones that broke or popped off the first usage.

Not sure why they don't have a listing but I been using these for the last 14 years. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/WIP61533

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

No reason to buy new on a 71k mile truck - clean/restore all the pedals. 50 years of gunk nearly as hard as cement on the accelerator. I used dental tool equivalent to get all out. Polished the brightwork and reinstalled. In all, about a 2-3 hour project with a lot of elbow grease.

HPS performance is the go-to for most on these T Bolt Clamps. I found these on Amazon, but not sure of the manufacturer. They we a bit nicer looking. They are unbelievably tight - should be a good upgrade from hose clamps.

They do not - but following a friend's advice, I covered the protruding threads and nuts with rubber vacuum port caps for a little better appearance.
