Re: My Facetruck thread.
had some some fun with Mrs. Bee's wagon last week..
nanny was sick so we were picking up kids from school, Thursday was my turn while backing into the driveway I look out the front and I'm all what the heck is that? get out of the car to find this, arrow points to a pinhole in one of the oil cooler hoses, streaming like a fountain well I followed the trail, started about half block from the house and the bottom of the car is fully faired so wasn't any shenanigans, just failed right then and there at least it happened right in front of the house so didn't run out of oil must have been a common problem, replacement part is all metal tubing.. local lexus dealer gave me some good guy pricing - manifold, gaskets, and three oil filter cartridges $140, that tubing manifold is about $110 aftermarket plus shipping, didn't bother checking local parts stores picked up parts and installed Friday in time to take kids to tennis Saturday parked it over the clarifier and washed all the oil from the engine and undercarriage, even shined up the outside while I was at it reinstalled the covers Sunday after confirming all dry and no leaks kitty litter dried it it out well enough to drive on but we'll be working on that stain for a while, probably end up with one of those pressure washers Larry recommended

Re: My Facetruck thread.
It's a good turnout to what could have been multiples more expensive had it not been caught so soon. I know you know that. I wonder how many squirt it out on the interstate till it locks up.
I had the notorious leaky oil cooler lines on my '92 K3500. Just seepy and messy, wasn't going to drain it out as long as an eye was kept on oil level. I got tired of replacing them, so I eliminated the cooler. Ran it many more years that way

Re: My Facetruck thread.
What luck, Killer. I started to say you got lucky, but you tore her car up, so I figure you are on the fence there.

Re: My Facetruck thread.
well Fritz finally broke through the old gate so it was time to build new ones
they were in miserable condition anyway so he actually did us a favor Mrs. Bee and my son did all the math and got everything square and level - and mostly plumb, as the block walls allowed they also selected all the grain contrast to give it character best part is only cost $275 sure is nice having free swinging gates that don't have to be carried open and screwed to each other to keep closed my young helper took care of filling in the rest of the lower course of screws for me the last two pickets for the sides will have to be ripped and notched for the hinges when I have more time but at least the opening is covered for now light sanding and some clear lacquer or light stain or something to preserve the colors and easily last the couple years we have left here

Re: My Facetruck thread.
That looks great but don't let your roots get too deep out there.

KB, I don't know if you have noticed or not, but your helper is growing up fast.

Re: My Facetruck thread.
Yup, growing like a weed. I built some quick and dirty gates around here using cedar pickets like KB did. They lasted about 18 years. They were painted, though. I built new ones with welded angle iron frames and 2 X 6 con heart redwood stiles. They will probably outlive me...which was kind of the point. Like this-

Re: My Facetruck thread.
^^ wow, that's beautiful, very nice work! if I had more time here, more skill, and more $$ I would have liked to have nice gates like that!
we (I) neglected to replace our old gates when they should have been so I had to use what was readily available for the weekend warrior maybe in the next house btw, I replaced one of the side gates few years ago with same type of kit under similar circumstances, the day after Fritz joined us, look familiar? at least then redwood pickets were available, unfortunately nothing now so went with cedar.. but I think they look great after seeing them up

Re: My Facetruck thread.
well, it was sanding and sealing this weekend, all went fairly smooth
wish the beers lasted as long as the sandpaper just clear sealer but really made the grain pop, and shows a little character had enough to complete second coat on the finished side, I'll have to get more sealer for the frame side.. I think we're going refinish our picnic table so we'll use up another gallon easy and there's still a third gate behind the garage I'll have to replace to match these went ahead and replaced the side gate pickets, they were too short after we added an extra course of block

Re: My Facetruck thread.
You have got those Gates Looking Great
The Sandpaper Quality varies. So the Longevity varies About that Bottle you have? Once you take the Top off It starts leaking and Evaporating
