Changed transmission filter, and rear diff fluid today(no leaks) and changing the ball joints and tie rod ends tomorrow. One stop at the alignment shop, and I'm off to the races...

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I pulled the 71 Camaro wheel I recently installed. The wheel is small and turn signal stalk was too close, my knuckles kept catching it. I modified it and its perfect now.

Repainted a pair of 15x8 rally wheels argent silver

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I attempted to change out my ball joints today. I accomplished three, but ran out of time tonight. I'll do the last one and the tie rod ends on Saturday.
The YouTube videos I watched sure made it look easy, but then again they weren't replace OE ball joints, on a 46 year old truck either. Knowing now what I learned today, Saturday should go smoother, and a lot less frustrating.

Drove it around the block while sitting on a bucket because, you know, I couldn't let cobwebs grow on it.

Still got 2 more rounds of polishing and then final assembly.. Had to take it for a spin.. Didn't think it would be down for 6months with the paint and everything else we are doing

After 10 months of not touching it due to finishing my Masters degree and other home projects I finally got the 70 back in the shop for the long awaited roof swap. These are in-progress pictures. The pillars are not fully fitted yet

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Driving her and smiling the whole time!

Tightened the screw on the rear view mirror, it doesn't flop around anymore!

Hopefully tomorrow I will install some door mirrors that were given to me. This 80 year old guy I met at the trash dump saw it and come over and started talking to me about it. He said he has a lot of old parts laying around his shed from when he had old vehicles, he invited me to come over and look around. I (with my brother-in-law) got over there and there were projects all over the place. The mirrors were all I could find that would work on my truck & I really needed them!

I'm surprised at how a lot of people just want to help with my truck! God is good!

Abused my truck a little. Did pretty good for being lowered and stock 350/350 combo w/3.08 gears.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

After driving to a Saturday morning cruise in I worked on the truck. Found my temp sensor and dangling wire and discovered temp guage actually works when hooked up. Also found my pretty spark plug wire connectors can't stand the heat.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I hooked my temp up and found that the gauge doesn't know what hot or cold means. Also, that sucks for the wire holders!

Intially my guage wasn't working but on the back of the cluster panel where the main plug goes in, the metal tape on the main board was peeling a little. I just had to realign the "metal tape " that runs from the connecter to the guage. It was actually shorting out my signals and wiper motor since it was loose at the main connector area. Things could be worse about the spark plug holders

Cut the raised rear floor section out of a doner K5 Blazer for my 72 Blazer CST. The doner K5 is in the "Trucks for Sale" area here.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I got the last of the fuel line hooked into the carburetor.

I also put the air cleaner onto the top of the carb. Not much left to do now.
