Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Not necessarily to my truck but for my truck eventually. Buddy has a 68 frame that was bent in the front and he is taking all the useable parts off before he tosses it. I grabbed the auto transmission crossmember and the auto shifter linkage pedestal thing on the frame. Two more pieces down towards the manual to auto swap.

Installed my shock relocation kit yesterday. A little tough dealing with the rivets from below, but it worked out great.

Used that same kit on my truck, but I was fortunate in the bed was off when I did it. Have put almost 2,000 miles on the truck in the last 18 months.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I didn't do anything significant to the truck but drove it the long way home after work yesterday morning. Beautiful sunny Sunday morning with very minimal traffic about at 7:00AM so perfect day for a 75 mile drive out of the City and cross country to loop back another way. Truck was down for 18 months and our drivng season here is quickly coming to and end so been driving it as much as I can since back on the road in June.

That is a fine looking rig Sir! The stance is right.

Hope it laid down some serious bald eagle freedom.

Took a very short cruise in the evening after getting the rear end project done. Still need to drive it a bit more, wash all the summer dust off from the last car show, and retorque bolts.

Looking good Ned.
I’m partial to the nice ride of the long beds.
So how does it handle with your new shock relocation kit?
Enjoy your drives.

Really good - I am pretty happy with it.. seems firmer and a little "bouncier" - very minor - but its quite a change from the extra heavy duty spring that were back there before..

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Another beautiful day in the PNW.
I ran some errands today and I had to go to a carburetor specialty shop to get some 3/16” vacuum line for my HEI to manifold vacuum advance.
NAPA and all the auto box stores don’t seem to carry it anymore.
Back home I decided to take a short drive with the C10 and noticed a new ticking noise.
Rams horn exhaust manifold leak? Yep!
Went to retighten the bolts when the forward passenger bolt fell off onto my hand.
It turns out the restoration shop from “Hell” that I divorced from broke/snapped the exhaust manifold bolt and used blue RTV silicone to hold the bolt in place.
Perfect. No one will ever notice
1 step forward, 2 steps back.
It’s gonna be alright, a new day tomorrow

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Sorry for all of the pics, but I washed mine last night and back in the garage before the Northwest rains begin. It looks as though my trim should be easy to reinstall looking at how lined up both sides are. A future project.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

In the last week:
- replaced dog dish cap steel tires with Rallys
- replaced front HL bulbs with Octane Bulbs
- Added a Headliner
- Maintenance, sanded and re-stained wood in bed. Too much work to not maintain.

In next few weeks:
- Tilt, 1.5 shorter, going from 17" to 15" steering wheel
- Front disc brake conversion
- window tint
