Nice pics Drew! 5200 isn't too bad at all. Pretty light in my book.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

This goes under the "Can't Leave Well Enough Alone" category. I know, I know, its a sickness.

I bought a brand new Yamaha golf car and I'm already souping it up. I'm getting ready to crack the gear-case open and swap in some taller gears for more top speed. I gotta be able to keep up with the light traffic on the Caribbean Island where I'm shipping it to!

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Hey everyone,
I haven't had much time to devote to this site recently, but I do lurk around now and again. I have been driving Young Frankie every day for about a year now and been loving it!
On another note, we had been planning on doing the whole Hot Rod Power Tour this year, but alas it isn't in the cards. We bought a rental property in the Turks & Caicos Islands (Caribbean) and I have been traveling a lot to remodel and fix it up for the rental season. Don't feel too bad for me having to work so much! My son and I will be just getting back from a trip the day before the Tour starts, so I will only be able to see everyone on the Wednesday stop in Memphis. I will make it to the Memphis stop and may drive some of the next day since the route goes right next to my house at Pickwick Lake. I'll probably hang out on the side of the road there and wave everyone on.

It's just a stock looking sleeper that tops out at 29mph, not really picture worthy.

You should probably put one of those spoilers that automatically pops up at 20 mph like on Porsches. You need the downforce!

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Drew,

Awesome, awesome, awesome!! Just found your thread and took at least a week to read it all. I feel really lazy since I have had my '69 burb sitting in the garage waiting for an engine & transmission for way too long now! You have motivated me to blow the dust off and get busy!

Love the truck, house, energy, devotion to God and family, missionary work, etc! Keep it all just the way it is!

Wow, just wow!!

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

What about the boat, did you paint it?
The house on the lake, is it done?
Pictures of trips, missions, games, auto shows?
Did you ever get a Camaro or Vette?
For those of us whom live thru actions of others (cause were lazy, poor, or both) get excited to see what those who accomplish stuff do.:
Um no more Caffenine, please.

This Franken-mini needs an A-Team red stripe or a simple clean logo to match the rental property in some way. When you print up golf shirts with the logo let me know, I wear a medium these days.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

As I have read through this thread I am amazed that you have time to sleep you stay so busy.

The truck looks great and best of all you use it like a truck.

What kind of fuel mileage has it turned in?

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Hey I just read all these pages the last two days at work. It is an amazing truck. Now I know you said you were tight on money and driving it around and I know looking over to glove box must be a little annoying. I am a supported member of the 73-87chevytrucks.com and have install the Dakota VHX gauges in a truck before and they tie into newer engines and electronics. It gives you the old look but has all the controllers under dash and you can add things like compass, temp, cruise, gear indicator, etc. I am sure with all the stuff you make and knowledge you have you may already know, but I love there silver VHX gauge for the more factory look, but more reliable and versatile use.

Anyways great project and here's a link in case you do not know.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

I just wanted to say hey to everyone out there in internet-land and mention that my truck made Hot Rod Magazine again this year! It's really not important, but it was fun to open my November issue and see on page 65 a long shot of the Memphis stop of the Power Tour. We happen to be on Beale Street at night for the after party, second to last car in the lineup. The staff went around during the day show and picked their favorite 100 cars to be invited to line up on Beale Street. It was a blast to be selected! We got a 20 motorcycle police escort from the race track to downtown Memphis, never stopping once for about a 45 minute drive. Then they had us very carefully back up sideways to the curb on one of Memphis' biggest tourist attractions. Very cool indeed. We stayed about 4 hours and answered all the same questions over and over and over. I'm sure this site had a big bump in numbers that night!

If it was me, I would say no. But I tend to get attached to my trucks. Especially the ones I have built myself.
