Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

Lol well not much if I had closed it then. I had just purchased the truck and was swapping in a new batt and carb. Looking to get an air gap intake soon. Would be nice.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

McClinton527, Your truck looks great. I really like the rear suspension, and the thought that went into it. The "bellcranks" that allow the shocks to be mounted at the rear and parallel to the chassis are cool. I am sure the ratio on the bellcranks had an effect on shock valving for ride, but should not be too difficult to figure out. Great build! Paul Baxter

Thank you very much. Yes the cantilever setup in the rear is probably about a 2:1 ratio. I ordered the shocks and had them valve em for an off road type setup figuring they would be a bit more stiff. As it turns out it works pretty damn good its a very very smooth ride. I dont know for sure if its the ultimate handling setup, but lets face it this truck wasnt intended for handling. Thanks again for the props

Cool 'burb. I actually had a 4 wheel drive 4 speed that use to be an ambulance in Murphy NC. I had told my friend that ran the christain youth camp that was using it at the time, that I wanted it if they ever parted with it. Well he acame to me and said he wanted to sell it for what I had in my pocket. I only had 3 pennies. He wrote a bill of sale on a napkin and took my pennies and shook my hand. I put new exhaust, radio and brakes on it, and drove it every day for three years. Later they needed it back, and wanted to pay me 1500.00 for it. Needless to say, I drove it up there and left it in their driveway with the keys in it. They still use it to this day for local missions projects. They haul there construction tools in it. Just thought I would share. Paul

I don't know about hood and battery but I installed a radiator out of a 87 burb that is a good 3 inches taller with 4 core, no problems in my 72 3/4 with duallies. I also have a 454 cu.in., hope that helps.

Done with phase 1, New rockers, cab corners, cab supports, little bit of floor, built a stake bed, dual fuel tanks, painted the cab and door. That's enough for one summer, I'll get after the front clip and drive train next spring.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

New Member - One pict of Old Nellie. The name came with the truck so I'm using it. I'm the third owner. It's a 1971 no A/C C20 with 350/TH350, Edelbrock 600cfm, & headers. Front disks. Plywood bed. Rust in the door sills and bottoms of the fenders but the rests is solid from what I've found so far. Been working through the bugs, electrical grounding problems with the tail lights, brake lines and the latest today of a small fire on the intake manifold. Left that dang fuel smell go too long. , was old hose on the carb. Spent 3 hours replacing crispy wiring, all of 7 wires. Glad these are so basic. A new truck would have been a mess. Will post more when I get a chance.

I don't think I have ever seen a flat bed with fender cut outs, where the bed is down on the framee. All of them thst I have seen sit up so high to clear the tires for a flat floor. I like it.
